Hypothetically speaking, could someone consume phenibut permanently? I realize this probably sounds crazy, but if phenibut is a derivative of GABA, what difference does it make if you consume it as a supplement? I'm aware that there is a high level of tolerance, addiction, and dependence to this substance. However, wouldn't the tolerance hit a ceiling eventually? Suppose it's 10 grams per day after several years of use, could it be maintained at this level indefinitely? Is there any biochemical explanation for why this would be dangerous? Research on phenibut is pretty scarce I've found, and beyond the anecdotes and horror stories I've heard, there is no one to have reported extended use with high dosages. As for addiction and dependence, I can't see why these would matter if you were on phenibut permanently. I know there might be problems with liver toxicity, but if you live an otherwise healthy lifestyle, and if phenibut were the only real drug you used, couldn't your body mitigate the damage? I'm very interested in this question if anyone could shed any light.

When it's consumed as a supplement, the amount you let into your body is determined by your choice and not your metabolism if you know what I mean.
Hypothetically you could take anything permanently whether it it hurts, kills, or helps you.
Without the other aspects you mention being relevant, what is the point of asking this question?
Also, you must remember that it is not gaba, it is just LIKE gaba, and our understanding of it could be incomplete.
Your body may stop producing gaba because you're taking it, then that's where you would hit the ceiling effect, dosing higher would cause there to be excess again, and levels would peak wherever you drew the line in dosage, but your body could also start to produce an enzyme to start destroying it.
It's just a theory, but most information on phenibut is.
If you just take phenibut for a long time and then stop, your body will be lacking in the production of a lot of neurotransmitters when you do stop, and slowly has to start making them again. That is the withdrawal period, I have been through it, and it is hellish.

i used phenibut for about 5-6 months straight, about a gram or 2 a day..sometimes i would take 3-4 grams but only 1-2 a week..i def liked the anti-anxiety snd sociable effects it gave me but it started giving me sleeping problems..instead of helping insomnia like it did at the beginning, it started to keep me from falling asleep...i also noticed brain fog while on this supplement which could be from the lack of sleep...i didnt notice any other problems but i had to get off due to the sleep issue...i also looked for info on long term phenibut users and i didnt find anyone who used it for over a year..i think there is a good reason you dont find many user reviews where ethe person has used it for years on end..they end up suffering unwanted side effects and get off...

btw, neurontin wipes 90% of phenibut withdrawals..

Speaking of consequences from this drug, i had hoped to find a reason to post this even thoughts its a bit OT, so i will FYI.

Of all the many drugs I have tried and been stupid enough to risk driving on, this drug is the most sly sneaky dangerous little bastard by far. I have almost died twice having only used it only 10 times or so and in 10 hears of driving, prob only hit 4 events of equal danger in my life and not even counting driving 60km on heavy MDA dose.

Because you don't feel intoxicated you think its fine, however it disrupts attention and focus, the ability to do multiple things at once, like change the radio/light a smoke while driving and badly interrupts that muscle memory automatic driving capability, the same if not worse then heavy alcohol intoxication.

Please never drive on this drug. I still cringe at the near destruction.
