my anti depressant is literally making me feel like i'm on speed. all the bad parts anyway.
I'm jittery as hell, my heart beat keeps going from slow/normal to omfg its going to break out of my chest.
I'm sweaty and i cant stop shaking or moving. i'm pretty sure its making my a.d.d worse. im so spacey. i cant sleep
i'm going nuts. anyone else take this? does it get better?

it's a property of the anti depressant. wellbutrin stimulates the body unlike most anti depressants...if it's causing you this many side effects/discomfort you should talk to your doctor and d/c the drug

I've taken that before and decided never to take it again because the effects were horrifying. Feel like pure poison to me, but supposedly you 'get used to it' if you keep taking it. I decided to let others be the judge of that. Tell your doctor you aren't taking something that makes your heart skip beats, i'm sure he'll understand.

^This is assuming you were just prescribed it. If you're taking it recreationally, then just don't, and if you've taken it for over a week or two, talk to your doctor.

I was on Wellbutrin 300mg for a bout a year and three quarters. At first it did feel kind of like I was on speed, but that effect pretty much disappeared. It still felt like I was on a stimulant, just not as harsh.

I'm on it now.

It made me euphoric and stimulated the first day on 300mg, but now it just motivates me and helps with my cravings a bit. It has been around 3 weeks since I was upped to 300mg xl from 150mg xl.

Yeah I got it prescribed and i've been on it for a couple weeks now. I can't stand how i feel. I feel like i'm in a bad dream.
It's making my body twitch, Insomnia worse and I have 0 motivation to do anything at all. In fact, my anxiety has gotten worse since Ive been taking it. It was okay the first few days but now I'm just like scared, pissed and moody all the time.

Why on earth would anyone take this shit for FUN?
This isn't fun.
I've been on A.D.D medications before, this just is like all the bad side effects of the A.D.D medicine with none of the positive benefits.

I had a strange experience with it, was on 150mg a day and after 3 weeks I had to stop, I started getting heat/pressure activated hives and I couldn't fucking take the itching anymore. It really helped with my depression and it definitely has an extremely speedy aspect to it. Wish I could have tolerated it better.

It should get better, most people find the side effects are the worst when you first start taking it and improve fairly quickly. Some doctors like to gradually start someone on 50mg SR for a few days or so, then 50mg 2x a day for a few days, and so on, to see how they tolerate it and introduce it gradually to their system. If you want to keep taking it maybe talk to your doctor about trying a lower dosage?

The XL lasts longer and is intended to be taken once a day while the SR is intended to be taken 2x a day, so if you are getting insomnia I would consider switching to the SR and just taking it in the morning, or perhaps morning and afternoon. Also I don't think the XL comes in doses smaller than 150mg (although some doctors do tell people they can cut them in half for 75mg and that it apparently doesn't break the time-release).

Give it a few days, the stim effect goes away and a calming/focusing effect remains. Wish i could afford it..

Ultimately it won't matter because a stable level will accumulate in the system.

I'm not sure what you mean. I mentioned 3 options:

Taking a lower dose is going to give you lower blood levels.

Gradually titrating up one's dose is going to give a more smooth transition. Titrating is recommended by many (good) doctors because the side effects are most prevalent during the first 2 weeks and slowly titrating up the dose seems to substantially help reduce side effects. It's like your body adjusts to the drug better.

Or are you talking about taking SR instead of XL? It must make a difference at least as far as the stimulant effects are concerned, otherwise there would be no XL. Again, this isn't my own weird theory, doctors recommend the SR for people who are having trouble sleeping.

Agreed on your first point. Agreed on the second point.

The mg is different for SR and XL. And what really makes the medicine work is a metabolite which has a half-life of about 60 hours so SR vs XL won't make an appreciable difference. I didn't call it your own weird theory, but there are probably secondary reasons. Make no mistake too, pharmaceutical companies will find every "reason" to make another version of a drug.

I was on 300mg xl welbutrin, it literally made me a homicidal maniac. Not recommended at all please discontinue at once.

Your experience is an anomaly; Wellbutrin is known for a lower incidence of mania than any other first/second line anti-depressant.
