So, after being an IV heroin user for almost a year, I have a little bit of experience, but not THAT much. With a recent batch I've been getting, I've had some odd experiences that have never happened before to me.
Whilst IVing white/off white no. 4 powder heroin, I've been getting this strange effect in my throat and esophagus. I always use the same measures/practices/precautions when shooting. Always shoot about 3 bags a shot, usually new rigs, cook to a slight boil, filter etc. Anyway, lately, right after my blood registers, and I push the plunger down and IV the dope, before I even feel the dope rush itself, I get this odd feeling where I kind of feel like my esophagus or throat gets a little tighter or constricted, and I get a semi cold sensation in my throat and slightly lose my breath for a second. And it may all be in my head, but my heart tends to seem like it speeds up more than usual. Now this only lasts a few split seconds before the rush hits, which ends this sensation, or gets it off my mind. Let me add, I also have asthma, and throughout the high it's not really hard to breathe at all, and doesn't seem to feel tight in my throat, but it is quite hard to swallow when eating. I'm not allergic to dope or opiates at all, so it seems as though the cut that is being used is what is causing this. My girlfriend also experiences the same exact feeling, and she is neither asthmatic or has allergies like I do. The entire sensation is actually only experienced for 2-4 seconds right after or while I push the dope in my veins.
Now let me add, that I don't think it's really something to be very worried about or is life threatening,doesn't seem serious and it doesn't even bother me much except for the dificulty swallowing. I'm just curious if anyone gets this and what it may be from. The cut that I BELIEVE (complete guess) is some form of dormin (like a generic sleeping or allergy medication) possibly diphenhydramine.
