My best friend thinks she can do heroin to lose weight & not get addicted. Can she avoid addiction? If not, what should I advise her to do instead?

are you serious? heroin for weight loss. but then again i did lose a bit of weight when i was addicted. i think fasting is a better option though

Your friend is a retard if she thinks she can use heroin to lose weight and not get addicted to it. Tell her to eat better and exercise. There is no miracle drug for weight loss. It's going to take hard work.

GRRRRR thank you drug-ignorant media moron of the 90's

Advise her not to do heroin since it wont even make her lose weight. Heroin Chic is mis-named. I know this because I had the same idea once upon a time. There are certain drugs with appetite-supressing qualitites and that tend to raise metabolism but its likely she will end up quickly addicted.

no. using drugs to lose weight is entirely unhealthy. as posted above, eating healthy and exercising is the best way to lose weight

In addition to the addiction potential present with the use of the drug, her using it as a tool to lose weight will multiply the addiction potential many times. A goal in mind involving drug use (and to lose weight it would have to be frequent use) will lead to almost certain addiction.

As said about 5 other times, simply stick with diet and exercise. I know drugs are the easy way yeah, but if she doesn't get addicted then she will simply regain the weight back quickly. All you gotta do is spend a couple hours learning nutrition(calorie counting, macros, etc.) and some weight training. I understand no one wants to take the harder way but this will make you feel better and be healthier.

If she's absolutely set on using drugs she could take a look into those weight loss pills(which are practically caffeine + other legal stim + other goodies). They will help with the appetite suppression, provide energy, and give you better workouts. Though legal they can still present problems. You'll have to cycle on and off due to tolerance and once you workout with stims, then its 10x harder to work out without them. But all this along with all the other shit you can buy at health stores are only a supplement which means it supplements your diet and exercise. They in no way replace either of them.

good to know.. i told her no to the heroin & now shes talking about speed & coke. is that better?

Nope. If vanity's driving her wanting to lose weight then it might be worth pointing out to her that all of the drugs she's considering are going to play havoc with her general appearance if she's taking enough of them to cause weight loss.

There are weight loss programmes here which provide all your food for you - everything, including snacks. If your friend really can't be bothered with the whole number-crunching and preparing her own food deal, then she might want to consider such a programme - it'd be a cheaper and healthier alternative than what she's considering.

While it's true that the majority of people who are overweight became that way by consistently ingesting more calories than they expend, considering the extreme measure your friend is thinking about taking in order to lose weight I think it's highly desirable that any endocrine disorders or other possible medical causes of weight gain be ruled out.

ummmm, make her change her diet drastically and excercise vigorously everyday and heres the Important part here STICK WITH IT!!!!, make her drink NOTHING but water.... and Force her to watch Requiem for a dream 3 times a day, that should get rid of her wishing to use drugs as a tool....

Right, and say no to drugs, drugs are bad, just quit its simple spend a couple hours learning alternative coping skills. Drugs are the easy way ....

Seriously, what is the benefit of these hypocrital replies? Anyone who is willing to take the risk associated with using a narcotic like heroin in order to lose weight isnt simply unaware of nutrition basics or that invasive means of losing weight are unhealthy. If this sort of response would have been sufficient, Im sure her concerned friend would not be here in the first place. To someone for whom weight is not a preocupation or for whom eating healthy is a simple decision, I suppose it might seem like a silly concpet, but truly, there are no "good reasons" or motivators for use, one person is not more justified than another. Can we please keep the information in the name of harm reduction equal ?

So, to the OP, to answer your question:

Speed nor coke are better than heroin, but they carry a different set of risks. Cocaine is generally not considered physically addictive, only emotionally/psychologically. In contrast, heroin is very physically addictive and after a certain amount of use stopping can actually be dangerous, requiring medical monitoring for withdrawl. There is a LOT of specific information here about the affects of heroin, speed, coke and many other substances. You should brose around the forums and become better informed. If she is willing, Id of course recommend that she also become properly educated so that she can make her decision with some awareness of what she might be getting herself into.

Since I myself started using coke to lose weight, and only for that reason, I wish I had known more about it in the beginning. Im not saying that I wouldnt have still used it, but I could have saved a lot of damage.

Hope this helps both of you!

Opiates don't do much to suppress my appetite. Meth is a much better choice for weight loss. Which still doesn't mean this is anything even close to a good idea.

Methamphetamine I mean, not methadone.

Ok... using those types of drugs for weight loss is just ridiculous.

If you want to lose weight, for me the best way was to roll. Eat very little the day of and roll very hard that same night, I usually didn't want to eat the day or two after. I lost TONS of weight doing that.

After I stopped rolling, to lose weight I would sniff 10-15mg of ritalin to keep my appetite off during the day, and use coffee and stoges to add any boost that I needed.

I recommend you try getting adderall or ritalin and see how that works for you, or roll. Don't go to meth or heroin... that's just stupid

are you serious? heroin for weight loss. but then again i did lose a bit of weight when i was addicted. i think fasting is a better option though

Lol. Not at all.

Matter of fact, fasting would probably end up being worse.

Anyone who fasts to lose weight is a fucking moron. Probably an even bigger moron than someone who uses meth to lose weight. They are starving their body of energy and lowering their metabolism. The weight you're losing is all lean muscle tissue, not fat. Even if you lose weight, you will end up gaining it all back even worse than before because you're metabolism is at hypothyroid levels. The key to losing weight is creating a calorie deficit. Eat frequent light meals that are low in carbs. You will lose weight if you don't have the intelligence and motivation of a sack of bricks. Lose weight the healthy way or don't do it at all. Stop looking for shortcuts. Fuck.

ha. well i will pass the info along & educate myself better. she is scared to do meth, so that wont be an issue.

if she used drugs at all to lose weight, would it be something she would continuously have to do? or could she stop after she was at her goal weight? (if she didnt get addicted)

Most likely, yes. The thing about shortcuts, is that there is always a catch. You're doing drugs. Your body is getting weaker and weaker, leading to an inability to have a stable metabolism. It's seriously risky business, and the risk is unnecessary. Drugs are for responsible people, not for people who want to lose weight. There is other shit for that, like diet and exercise.

Also, chances are pretty good that if she is resorting to taking an easy, not to mention very unhealthy way out, what makes you think she's going to have the dedication to STAY at that goal weight? What is obtained too cheaply, is esteemed too lightly. Tell her to put some fucking work in and stop bitching. Maybe when she works her ass off to lose 15 pounds, she'll have the mind to watch what she eats. I realize I'm sounding a bit harsh, but harsh motivation is the only kind of motivation that people will honestly take to heart. If you aren't losing/gaining weight, then you aren't serious and should just quit and stop making a mockery of people who actually ARE trying to achieve their goals. It's painfully easy if you know what to do.

With that being said, caffeine is a proven, effective, legal, and for the most part safe stimulant which can greatly assist in losing weight by increasing that rate at which calories are burned, unlike meth, which simply kills your appetite and tissues. Even if you want to use something to help you out, there are SO many better options than dirty street drugs.

In short, simple terms, do cardio, eat lean meats and vegetables, eat about 1400 calories per day, stay hydrated, sleep 7+hrs each night, drink a cup of coffee in the morning. Done.
