First off, let me say that I realize that no one else can tell me what my preferences are, or what works for me. I'm just gathering information from your collective experience to inform my own choices.
So, as a freshman in college I've been taking 2.5mg of Focalin IR orally roughly once a week. Sometimes I'll do work while on it, but as a rule I never take it in order to get work done. If I have something I absolutely have to get done, I stick to coffee and willpower. Instead, I'll doodle, talk to friends on IM, play guitar, take care of hygenic and maintenance things that need doing, etc. In addition to this however, I usually either trip or drink to a moderate excess (Pre-vomit, post happy. Working on finding the sweet spot). I'll also smoke weed sporadically with friends or to add some sparkle to a day I don't have any or much work.
To those who've experienced similar habits of use, did you find it sustainable? Did you find you sustained it when you didn't *want* to? Did you find your use increased? Why? How did you feel about it then, and how do you feel about it now?
I hope that made sense and wasn't too many questions, many thanks!
Edit: Additionally, but not essential, I think its important to stress that I never feel bad about this pattern of use except for when sharing it with someone who I don't know what the think of it. This includes my girlfriend, who I'm always honest with. She trips, usually each time I do, though I trip marginally more than her. Although I have much more past experience. Dude to issues with my teenage use of Dextromethorphan which was a bit of a disaster she has fears associated with me&drugs, though not as much with drugs in general. With other people I find I'm comfortable mentioning my psych use, though not how much I've taken (whether or not they've done any, I hate drug machismo and don't want to be seen in that light). I thought that my feelings about my own use, and my feelings in sharing it with others might be relevant.
