Hey Everyone,

Just a quick message to say that were really struggling to meet our server costs and so far have only managed to raise 28% of our target of 6500€

When you think about the number of members on the site if everyone just paid a few bucks/pounds/Euros etc we could easily meet this target.

To make a donation simply click on the Donate button at the top of the page and follow the instructions.

Donations are private, and 'Bluelight/Pillreports' will not show up on your bank statement/credit card statements etc.

Thanks

If I could afford it I would give but right now I am without job....but I have been meaning to donate something as soon as i get back up on my feets.

does this site turn any profit from the sales of test kits? i know what a pushy question but i mean it not as a remark, but honestly do you?

i really dont make alot of money and have a family to support so the whole donation thing doesnt spark me really, but for a site as great and informational as this i might be willing to throw in a couple of bucks tho i would feel that my donation would be so miniscule that it may be offensive....

but i do need a test kit so i wouldnt mind paying for something that i can use and posses...

also what kind of donations are needed is there a perferd starting rate for the donation? and if so how much in dollars, euros or whatever..

sorry if this post comes across negative to the cause, i love this site for what it has taught me and informed others of, its just great!

I would suggest giving some sort of forum/ post merit award such as a little picture that says "Donator" under our pictures etc.

It would encourage the donations, that would help to meet the server costs.

That's another thing. If Bluelight is struggling with funds, then sell some harm reduction kits!
Strike a deal with dancesafe, or bulk buy and sell for a little more.
You guys would have the customer base, and could easily help pay for server costs.

Come on BlueLight. I'm down to put on my thinking cap and get you guys some $$

That shouldn't be what donating is all about.

It's not, but a site needing donations shouldn't be moral bound if a simple profile change can easily bring in the cash needed to meet the server requirements.

Throwing in more incentive than a moral one always helps bring out the good in people . lol.

Plus, Those that would donate without strictly wanting that title, I'm sure would appreciate it too.

It's not for gloating reasons, but why not reward contributors to the site?

I think that it does turn it into for a gloating reason though. What other reason would it be there for?

I personally, will say that the incentive of knowing that I'll have that acknowledgement, reminding me that I've donated to the site ( as well as others) would make me want to donate more than donating strictly for the personal high five.

And as against what you may think is "true donation" is, there would be more doners if this incentive were available. We're trying to meet server costs here, oh well if it feeds gluttony.

It's a small price to pay (Feeding people's ego) to get that extra cash.
I've had to do it with many of my private gaming servers, and I've noticed that it really does help when you provide that incentive.

And even for those doners who are truly doing it out of "the kindness of their hearts" , why not give them a personal thanks that lasts?

Sure, maybe it would help recruit donaters, though it's not up to me. But it would definitely be strictly for gloating purposes. I don't see why pride in knowing, and pride in the site still being up and running isn't enough though.

Not negative at all and you raise a valid point - some people actually think that we run a scam on the sites. We make up bad reports to make people scared of taking pills, we then invent and make our own test kits and push them onto you 'the scared public' so we make a load of money = Bullshit.

We dont make money from test kits but we do make money if you order one through our site (paid for banner) so simply goto Pillreports and click the banner at the top of the page. This loads a third party site where you can buy a kit - we actually get paid per click so even if you dont buy a kit we still get a tiny amount just for the traffic.

hi bearlove,

No worries at all, I know that not everyone can help out :)

I will donate if you put an icon by my name that says

"Power Donater"

Or somethin cool like that...

Ill ask about this but cant see it being a problem :) - You will pay monthly for the title of donator and if you make a substantial donation you will get a better title for say 6months?

Just as an update, I have just asked the other mods/admins if we can have these 'Paid for Custom Titles'. I'll keep you posted :)

I think that it does turn it into for a gloating reason though. What other reason would it be there for?

The ego likes to be stroked =P It feels good to be recognised. It may be bragging rights, but if someone donated a little money, they'd having bragging rights as well. It's motivation, which works great for donation purposes =D

While I agree with you in theory, unfortunately real life tends to be a lot more banal and "darwinistic" than we would like. I think a little 'D' or a * sign by your username would go a long way in encouraging people to donate to this site.

I am getting my first paycheck at the end of this month, so as long as the donation system accepts donations via Visa Electron cards issued by Ukrainian banks, I should be able to make a small contribution. :)
