Wasnt the snake in the garden of Eden the good guy ?

so story goes...god creates a forbidden fruit, it comes from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

then a snake got us into eating that fruit

then god gets mad and kicks us out

ok now why would he get mad if he did not created us to know the difference between good and bad, how are we suppose to know who is the good guy and the bad guy if we did not yet eat the fruit that would make it possible for us to know the difference ???
so the snake was cool, he gave us the ability to think for ourself thanks to the knowledge acquired from the fruit
but then fuck we got it bad because a god decided to make us suffer

so how is it that god is viewed as the good guy and the snake the bad guy ?

Being a Christian for the majority of my life, I can attest to the fact that the idea of Satan is people's desire for free-will

While the idea for God is simply no less than a code to help the advancement of society toward a more communal state. The old testament and new testament are just an example of the changing times and globalization.

The snake is a bad guy, because the bible says he is a bad guy.

However the bible could be reinterpreted to represent a completely opposite view, which is what I commonly do with most Christians. Subjectiveness is great.

because of how we soak in other peoples words, a very large and most neglected point of that book is to think for yourself, and to be yourself, not to spend your time secluded amongst 'like minded individuals' Ie. Racism, and actually not to "worship" idols...

^this paragraph, is a perfect self sustaining infinite loop...the entire Bible reads the same to me, what i interpret i can not imagine to have much of any other meaning - and that is usually a stark difference from what is explained/verbalized/dictated presented to me.

he is saying that what is of the Father is of the Son, and whoever sees their child as a blessing, and as blessed honestly, the same will be returned, being done with no expectations of Gods Grace swooping in is a needed perpetual function of life "i increase you decrease". that is purity of heart, which if your neighbor practiced too, would have a great effect on their neighbor as well, and be the natural course of things, taught through observation of practice, not a lesson taught, in a private dare i say segregated manner. practicing this, doing as an individual, rather then as a need to be in praise of an entity, who we depended on to tell us what is right - is doing Gods work, by Gods word, via ones own will - it is great peace of mind...

and you similarly say its up to interpretation..

but...you cant really interpret that god is being happy about the issue, he takes away our immortality + free food and he gives us pain for the rest of our life and our descendant...

my point being how can he be seen as the good guy ? simply because people are scared that it will get worse if we dont obey the will of god ? and not because he is the good guy but just because we need to say he is or else he punish us more ?
 
In some early Gnostic sects, the snake was indeed considered a benefactor, something that later false doctrines construed as evil corrupting the innocent. Of course, the Gnostics were all about the idea that the Biblical God and the reality around us were clever smoke screens...

The fact that--to my knowledge--Judaism contains no doctrine of original sin, suggests to me that the point of that story has nothing at all to do with evil (only later Christians cast the snake in the image of Satan), and everything to do with the perils of not following God with utter, unquestioning obedience. Make of it what you will.
 
I think the tale is a bitter lament at the loss of ignorance. It must be tough to be just grooving along at one with the multiverse then "suddenly" ( that may take time but the dawning realisation would be sudden) you're faced with problems of power & responsibility - everyone just eating fruit & looking at the clouds then some self aware twat says "that's MY fruit tree stop eating of it or I'll bash you with this rock" I don't blame the fuckers for lamenting about that.
I think you've got look at these things as ancient tales handed down the generations & eventually scribed up by educated folks probably very different culturally from the originators of the tale.
 
I'd like to explore the myriad occult symbolic meanings to the serpent in the garden someday. All I can say now is that he's been interpreted as symbolizing self-knowledge, since a snake can bite its own tail. The temptation of the snake was curiosity about the human condition, and just curiosity in general. But by taking his dare, man unknowingly ceased to be simply another animal, and ceased to be in a state of nature from that point on.

I've heard this story interpreted as an allegory of the discovery of farming. When people discovered that they could plant the seeds at the cores of the fruits they picked off trees, and exercise control over their growth and development, that's the point at which mankind stopped being a part of nature. All of civilization grew out of farming originally, and the more civilized we became, the more alienated we became from our natural roots, and the more destruction we unknowingly visited upon the natural world which begat us.

I see the snake as both good and bad. He represents a crucial turning point, or tradeoff, in the human condition.
 
I dont think Gods intention was to keep us from knowledge for eternity. At that time in the garden
though God was in His rest.. It was the seventh day.. Sabbath.. We were in rest too..

Eating from the apple of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil meant that we were plunged
into cause/effect/logic and work.. Before that time we enjoyed complete provision.

The snakes evil was in tempting Adam and Eve to disobey Gods will for them.
God is still in His sabbath.. our world of cause/effect and work is done independent of God and His divine order which is why there is chaos.

The snake isnt a ' good guy'. It brought death, suffering, slavery and evil
to a realm that was, according to Gods word, 'well good' :)
 
Isn't it all God's fault for creating mankind with a free will? God must have known that man would exercise that free will and His word would be disobeyed. If God wanted mindless zombies, then that's what he should have created!

The biblical controdiction I have yet to have seen logically debunked. GOD IS IMPERFECT by his own word

So, we have a machine. Now this machine stamps perfect circles out of metal. It will never break down, it never needs repair or servicing. It is a perfect machine. But one day the machine made an imperfect circle. The machine thusly is not only imperfect but was always imperfect because it would and did have the capacity to fail.

Now we apply this to God, god is a supposedly perfect being, god created an imperfect being. Seeing as something perfect cannot create something imperfect god is imperfect. This applies to both satan/ other cherubs and angels
as well as Adam an eve.

The most common argument against this is also illogical. And that is god created them imperfect on purpose; why you ask? Becasue that would mean that perfection can contain or create imperfection, meaning that perfection can contain imperfection which contradicts the meaning of perfection.

another form of this. If god is omnipotent that means he free will doesn't truly exist.
 
Its a fable of self awareness in humanity. I for one am in favor of eating the knowledge apples. Om nom nom.

Although swinging from tree to tree, beating my chest and so on... that also sounds kinda sweet...
 
i didnt watch that video but is satan kind of a metaphore for what seperates us from other animals?
