im looking at getting another tattoo soon, and i want it to be a dragon, just in black.
it has to look realy cool and of course your signature would be tattoo'd under it.
pictures will be posted on bluelight too, so anybody whos interested either post a reply IM or e-mail me.
i look forward to hearing from you :)
p.s. its to go on my left upper arm, an id like it to be roughly 3 1/2 inch across and 6 inch long. no more. :)

i cant draw dragons real well, so i wont be able to....
but for everyone else's knowledge... what sort of style do you want the dragon in? tribal, very detailed, cartoon, thin linear composition, blocky... etc etc

I went to a tattoo convention in NYC last weekend & looked through thousands of designs until I found soemthing similar to what I had in mind. I met the artist, talked to him about I want, we got on the same wavelength & i'm going to see him this weekend to see what he's come up with.
I totally recomend going to a convention (which happen all the time , look around the net & in magazines), it was very inspiring, but of course you have to pay a little more for an original.

why don't you find a tottoo artist who's work you like and have them do the artwork?
because i want it to be done by a BLUELIGHTER, and because its expensive!
i was thinking of something not too detaild just for easy realy. something a bit "mythical" looking would be nice.......

Please don't take offense but you should really not get a tattoo based on cost. You are going to permanently change your body..take some time, think it out...know exactly what you want...and if necessary save up for it. Don't settle for anything less.
Ink.

i realize with a lot of things this isn't true, but with tattoos (i don't care what your buy will do it for), but with tattoos you get what you pay for. there's a reason that the best tattoo artists around are $250 and up an hour.

damn.... i should be a tattoo artist
too bad theres not much of a market for abstract experimental line art tattoos

Tattoo's are expensive no matter who does the design... I'd love to do it for you, but there are far too many things that get in the way of a project like that. I know when I am designing something for someone I prefer them to be right there with me... and I like them to show up with some kind of idea of what they want, like pictures they like that I can have a starting point for.
My advice is to collect pictures that you like over a period of time,... say six months to a year... then take them all and decide on three pics you like the best. Then you shop around tattoo parlors and talk to a few artists, get a feel for who you like and who you don't... once you find someone your comfortable with, have a sit-down with them and discuss what your thinking about. Most artists will not charge you to sit and talk with you, they have to do that every day with everyone that walks into their shop. Once you feel like he has an understanding of what your talking about, ask him to sketch out some simple ideas of his, just to see if he's really on your wavelenght. And still, he should not be charging you for this time. Most artists will respect your attention to detail, knowing that you spent plenty of time thinking about it before coming into their shop. Most tattoo artist HATE it when people come in off the street, point to some flash on the wall and say "I want that, right here." But, at the same time, artists don't like to be "tested" or "troubleshooted", so be careful not to step over that line. My artist (Cornfed, from Starborn Tattoo in Las Vegas NV) gave me all the time in the world, and did his best to make me feel at ease with his abilities. He did excellent work overall, although he did confuse me on the after-care instructions and caused me to scar up a little, but then he touched up over the scarring for free.
Take your time with your decision. Please, these words you must heed... there I go talking like Yoda again... don't just say "fuck it". Be 100% sure what you want before taking the plunge, you wont be sorry.

ive thought about this for some time now and ive been inked before.
ill be getting it done anyway, i just thought it would be a cool idea to have some original artwork by a bluelighter.
could someone atleast point me to some good websites on tat design?

hahaha, JF you can tattoo your vectors on me anyday, we'll start a new trend :)
Peace!

i've drawn some tribal stuff/creatures that ppl have tattooed. however, i'm not sure i can draw up a nice lookin realistic dragon for ya.....yet. ;)
there's lots of places on the net with great dragon pics. you can just print it out, take it to the tattoo guy and have him try and make a reasonable facsimile. Anyway, here's one place that may give some inspiration:

thanks ice-9. im checking out that website now. although id still like to see some of your work, unless u feel otherwise :)

a few pointers for anyone who cares :)
ive got an idea in my head of what i would like it to look like.
dragon stood on its hind legs facing 'away' with its wings spread wide and the tail has to be rather prominent (sp) too.
*note all in greyscale/black
:D
edit:
i like this alot
