I would like to know if there are any drugs you can take to transition from daily meth use for over 10 years to complete abstinence? I'm a lifetime user with a break of 10 years or so. I'm 50 and female. I don't want to do this anymore but I have a full time job that I have to be able to go to everyday. I'm looking for advice about the physical reaction to a lack of meth after such prolonged use. Please help and message me because I'm new here and don't know how to read and/or receive answers to posted questions. thanks

Hey, I just sent you a Private Message.
Hope you can figure out how to read it..

Hey Clementine...my meth use wasn't that long and I had to quit my job and move to stop, but there were a ton of outside contributing factors. Do you have any vacation time you could take for the first week? I used klonopin, seroquel and trazadone (not rx'd to me) and they helped but led to a second withdrawal about a month in, now I'm totally clean (even from the whiskey). I don't know enough to give solid advice, I did what worked for me, I just wanted to reach out and send good luck your way. I know it can be done and I've read a lot of stories of people deep in who've pulled themselves out. I can offer this though, despite the cravings, there is goodness on the other side.

Like, stilesface, I just want to congratulate you on your decision to quit. That must have taken a lot of courage to make the decision and then to reach out here and thereby put your commitment in writing.<3

(and stiles, congratulations to you, too! :D)

Your only option is to take some time off from work to detox. I'm sure they will understand.

You could try substituting with adderol or another stimulant, but it sounds like your tolerance is so high that it would not help much.

If you are anything like me, you are an "all or nothing" type person. Either got to do it, or not do it, ya know?

After you detox, make sure to keep a healthy diet, drink a lot of water, take multivitmans, and exercise.

Herbavore, much love...thank you. 30 days off the benzos today and 56 days off meth. I just watched the fog lift and the sun rise over the mountains here, my herb garden is coming in as with all the veggies. Life is good. I hope you're well.

Soundsystem, you're right on with the healthy lifestyle, it makes an immense difference.

Clementine (I love that name, it is whimsical to me) I hope you've figured out how to view your post. I'm going to send you a PM as well.

Have a beautiful day all.

Hi, I just read the rules for posting in this forum. Since I am specifically asking for information about drugs that can be used for the physical effects of detoxing off meth I'm thinking this isn't the right place for my post. Any suggestions?

I should have added a thank you to all of you who responded with your moral support. I appreciate it very much. I know from my own experience that life can be great clean. But...

I have hep c, have had it most of my life. I work for a small city government. I don't have enough vacation or sick time that it would take for me to recover my energy. You have to realize, I have been using every single day for over 10 years. Literally there has been only 1 or 2 days in all those years that I ran out. I buy a 1/4 ounce every 2 weeks. And I'm not sharing. I don't do it socially. I only know 3 people who do it and we don't really hang out together. I'm not going to be okay taking a week off. You see?

I need this job because I will never be able to get another job at my age with the health care and pension benefits that I have now. That is why I'm looking for some help from modern medicine and/or the scientific community.

My advice would be to cut back gradually..
Set yourself personal goals each week. Instead of using every day, make it a target to only use every second day..
Then cut it back to using every third day. Eventually, you can reduce it down to weekend use only, and hopefully, eradicate the drug from your life completely.
I know this is an extremely difficult way to stop, but it is effective.
A friend of mine has recently quit an 8 year daily addiction, with no other drugs to help her, but by gradually cutting back over time.
You have the strength to fight it <3

I understand, to a degree, I was using the same amount and on a daily basis and it wasn't for ten years, but I felt utterly hopeless to quit. Depending kn the length of time at your job and the number of employees you could qualify under the 93 FMLA act for job protected time off. I'm assuming you're stateside because of your health insurance comment. There is a standard packet either your doctor or your HR administrator would have that would need to be completed and then you're given time off above and beyond vacation and sick time. The whole process is confidential.
It's unpaid time off but if youre not spending the money on the meth it's not as big of a hit.

There's no drug you can shift off to, I tried various Adderall etc and couldn't even feel them. I agree that if you can taper then do so. I couldn't, if it was there it was gone. I know it's not what you want to hear, but aside from tapering, I can think of no feasible way to not take time off. The only thing that has restored my energy has been exercise and a specific vitamin regimen and massive quantities of energy drinks which I believe to still just be placebo. The meds I suggested in my previous post were just used to combat the depression, anxiety and psychotic tendencies that manifested in withdrawal. I learned those from dozens of half assed attempts to quit.

PM me if you have any specific questions about employment laws. In my previous life I dealt with it a lot and there are ways to make sure you're protected if you want to go that route. Good luck.
