Hey everyone,

I started on subs about 3.5-4 weeks ago and am really tired of the side effects it has on my bowel movements and my mental health I feel totally emotionless. I tapered down and today is the first day at 2mg, how quickly would you guys advise to get off of suboxone I want to ASAP with minimal withdrawals. Thanks everyone so much

id just jump off ASAP. you could taper down but youre just gunna drag it out. withdrawal wont be that bad at all. after day 4 youll only get better.

I would just stop taking it. 4 weeks aint that long. You're gonna have some definite discomfort but I think stopping cold turkey at this point would be the easiest option. IME tapering just drags it out and is only necessary if you've been on the subs for maintenance (ie: 3+ months).

You've only been on the bupe for a short time, so that's going to work in your favor. Had you of been on that dose for a year, it'd be quite different.

You could hop off now and while you'll still experience some withdrawals, they wont be severe.

Another option would be to take another week and taper even further down... the extra week wont be enough to really draw out your kick a great deal, but it will help with mellowing the withdrawals, hopping off at something like .25mg's. I've known people to have more success coming off of the suboxone when they did it at <1mg.

If you're taking suboxone, you were probably addicted to opiates before otherwise it doesn't make sense. Tell us about your opiate tolerance before you got on the subs.

EDIT: Everyone is only giving the guy advice based on the amount of time he was on suboxone everyday. I'm on bupe now too but after a year or two of heroin abuse. If I stopped taking bupe day 30 after being on H for so long, the W/D would be so bad that I'd rather die. Just saying %)

I was addicted to heroin yes for about a year 8 months straight 2 months clean 2 months on then I got clean for a couple days before I went on subs, at the end of my addiction i was snorting about 2 bundles a day, I've always been one of those people who needed to nod and my tolerance would sky rocket.

Scags, if I took 7-10 days to quick taper would something like 1 days (including today) at 2mg then 2 days at 1.5mg then 2 days at 1mg then 2 days at .5mg and then 2 days at .25mg

Yeah man that's definitely a valid taper plan. There are a lot of ways you could do it but that one is certainly worth a shot. Even only being on the suboxone a month, you'll definitely find coming off of it at .25mg's much easier than 2mg's.
