Hi Everyone

Please forgive me if this post in the wrong section, though I thought the harm reduction thread would be the most appropiate.

I have a question on behalf of a freind who is learning chemistry,

She wants to dissolve 50mg of flubromazolam powder in PG, but when I asked her about ratios, she didn't seem to know much which concerned me a little.

is it 1 to 1, ie, 1mg flubro to 1ml propylene glycol = 1ml=1mg?

basically she wants to dissolve 50mg of flubromazolam so that 1ml of solution = 0.5mg of flubromazolam, I told her she would probably need to dissolve the 50mg in 200ml of PG to achieve this, but I thought I better double check for the concept of saftey

Thank You

Regards

Martin

Strong maths.

50mg of flub will require 100ml of PG to equal 1ml = .5mg

Thank you very very much Pbuilder, I did post a longer reply but not sure if it posted or not, but something she said got my spider senses tingling so to speak didn't seem right, yet she's studying chemistry and I have no scientific background, something just didn't feel right, so thank you for the reply, Very very much appreciated indeed. M

I would of thought she would of had a better understanding considering she is studying it, but from my frequent visits to these and other boards, something just didn't seem right and i felt concerned, I don't have any scientific background I just know how accurate you have to be with this kind of research to get true results. Thank You

Actually kind of LOL'd at this. Trying to figure out according to which logic it'd require 200ml of PG and 50mg of a substance to achieve 2:1 ratio... Anyway, the above response is correct, 50mg of a substance in 100ml of PG will result in 0.5mg per ml, don't need to be a scientist to tell that. Tell your friend to be careful in her adventures and check up on her from time to time as it seems they're not that sharp.

As a person who's been doing chemistry for some time... Well, people in the first few courses are not necessarily very smart, so the fact that your friend is studying chemistry doesn't automatically mean they know what they're doing. It's very good that you think critically in this regard.

Hi Belligerent

I totally agree. and to be honest, that makes total sense what pbuilder and yourself said, seems completely logical but also tied my own head up in nots trying to work it out, ie if 50mg in 100ml, then whats 50m in 150ml = per ml etc, and just gave up lol, I guess the old "keep it simple" I think thats what I picked up on, because she was making things seem overly complex, the numbers she mentioned and from my own visits to various boards just didn't seem right, I think maybe she was trying to make a simple answer more complex, but even ended up confusing me.
