Hey guys new BL'er here. 6 weeks clean from heroin. On my 30day mark on vivitrol, injection right now. I'm not ready to quit, and have been using very minuscule amount of dope thought the last week trying to get high to no avail. So now I'd rather not use up the bag I have left and just wait it out til I can feel it but I've read horror stories about it taking up To 40-50 days till they could feel it. Now granted this is the first time ive ever had the vivitrol injection so I don't have a monthly buildup in me, just one dose. Any ideas how long it'll take til I can feel a high and euphoria? 155lb 6'0 ft male . 20 yrs old. Thank you for your time. Much love
 
I took Vivitrol for alcohol and could catch a buzz 5 weeks after getting the shot, so about a week after the month. However, I'm referencing alcohol and am not certain for h. Figured I would share as no one else has responded :)

Ah thanyou so much haha I'm tripping and it's nice to have someone let me know! I've asked a few people I know but they've given me different answers as they all use IV and I snort. I drank alcohol on day 28 and felt a weak buzz after a few drinks more than it would usually take. This injection is one of the weirdest meds
 
I'm sorry man but theres no way you are going to get high while being on the vitriol shot, especially if you snort your dope. The vivitrol injection is simply too powerful, it takes 60 + days for the vitriol injection to COMPLETELY wear off it is only then you will be able to feel your dope.

you see people on here talking like they used some D 40 days after and felt like 40% of the high... and thats when they inject their D.. and they could barely feel it.. how is that worth it? basically man its impossible to get high while receiving vivitrol injections

get off that vitriol shit its obviously not helping you and you seem like you aren't ready to quit, Id recommend getting on suboxone. That vitriol shot is not an effective treatment for this disease.

all that vivitrol garbage does is give peace of mind to the addicts parents, spouse, etc..
 
man, i feel for you... i came ***this*** close to getting that shot but chickened out. just sounded too brutal. for what it's worth, in the end i think you're doing a good thing. but that must suck!

so true man that's exactly why I'm in it now... Either live on the streets or live at my parents while on vivitrol. Personally once I received the injection I think I went thru small w/d and then that turned into a 3 week long lasting anxiety/ depression/ sucidal thoughts.... Just plain old fucking hell! Naltrexone is made for drinkers yet works better for us opiate/heroin addicts. Good god I really really hope it doesn't last that long because I will continue to try until I feel it:/

Im definitely not ready to quit though as you can tell. I lost my job in the process of getting clean so the fact I don't have a steady supply of income coming in makes it worse as I can't just keep copping more and more... Haha catch 22. If I can give advice to anyone it's that this drug is horrible feeling your not 100% on sobriety as it will take you prisoner for a good chunk of time!!!!!:/

Simco, I thought the shot would be sort of like a saving grace before I got it... Well god damn was I wrong lol. I suggest taking the oral ReVia naltrexone tablets before you choose this as you can at least decide to stop taking those... I wish my ass muscle would just get rid of this naltrexone already. But I do appreciate the kind words man. but I'm still counting the days until 35 days hits then I will try again and just continue to expirment! Any ideas as to the bio availability when you snort ??
 
Since I was in a major depressive episode when I went to the doc to get the vivitrol shot, he was afraid I'd kill myself on it...I think he might have been right.

When you ask about the bioavailability from snorting, do you mean while the vivitrol is still in you?
 
Well in regards to bio availibility I guess I mean in general... But also knowing about it while on vivitrol would be cool if you know anything about that...
Honestly I've never been more depressed while on this shit and I have clinical major depression and seasonal depression. And I thought about that as well when I first got the shot and realized I have a shackle on my leg not being able to get high until that shits outta my system. I cannot tell you in words how much I fantasize about getting high all day and wanting to use the bag in my room but I know it won't work... It's like being trapped in your own body and mind!!!

This is not true. While the shot may not work for everyone, it works very well for some people. This is a harm reduction website, and I think making an untrue blanket statement regarding a valid tool that helps to combat addiction is against the spirit of this site. It's fine that you personally don't care for it, but globallly dismissing Vivitrol as a means to help facilitate getting healthy is a disservice to people who are looking for options to treat addiction.

Vivitrol saved my life and allowed me to get beyond cravings to now have multiple years sober. I know several other people who have been able to maintain sobriety because of the shot. If somebody is ready to quit using, Vivitrol helps make the process of staying clean so much easier in early recovery. Vivitrol is a valid treatment option, and has a much greater function that just giving peace of mind to an addict's loved ones.

OP my parents did the same thing to me "get the shot or we are throwing you out", I flat out refused to get the shot what were they guna physically drag me to the doctors office? I called their bluff so I didn't get the shot and they didn't throw me out... you should have tested your parents like I did before you actually got the injection...

I didn't realize it was being forced on people. That's unconscionable, and it's a great way to get someone to OD out of desperation. In order for Vivitrol to work, the addict has to truly want to get clean. It should not be forced, and it makes me sad to know it is being forced on them, as if they ever do want to get clean in the future they will probably never consider using it again. I think people, regardless of good intentions, trying to force an addict into sobriety is just feeding the addiction. I always used more if I already felt guilty about using as I needed something to help alleviate the additional guilt. It's such a terrible cycle.
 
That's very true, it can be great in aiding in a fully desired sobriety but many people jump on it first thing out of detox in hopes of this being the time.. Then are sadly mistaken and are in anguish until it's out of the system.. Speaking of which, today would be day 33 since shot and no high/euphoria.
 
I am one of the few lifelong addicts that is not an alcohol addict...so vivitrol would not work for me...) Suboxone made ppl think that I was a mutant for alcohol, as I would drink literally whatever the hell I wanted (seriously I would drink bottles) and be able to behave and drive as such (when you go from black out opiate+benzo intoxicated to "drunk"..._) From being on suboxone for years to being able to catch a buzz off bear..... let alone anything else I am happy I knew better that Suboxone was killing my vibe vs. thinking I was an exception I won a significant amount of money in drinking competitions...ANY drugs + booze = death, seriously if your an exception like myself count yourself lucky, if you know you drink too much and use drugs....you die...I am in my 30's with NO childhood friends....It sucks, don't be the exception.... Be SMARTER, and live!

Confused, why would Vivitrol not work for you? It blocks both opiates and alcohol...

I wasnt a alcholic. We're not that few. I know a few alcoholics who used the shot successfully that didn't use drugs
