Hi everyone,

I'm swinging down through san francisco this weekend. Is there anything/anyplace I definitely need to check out (I like beer, wine, art, electronic music, burningman stuff, etc)?

Thanks!

For the best night scene head to the South of Market. There are lots of great clubs/bars down there. It truly comes to life there about midnight. For fun ecclectic shopping & other scenes check out the Haight. There's also alot going in Golden Gate park at this time of year, usually free concerts & cool minded people if y'know what I mean. Have fun it's an awesome city!!!!
Oh & BTW, if you like disco & house you can check out the Castro (or Polk) if you don;t mind gay bars.

Grab a beer at the Zeitgeist: cool outdoor, German beer hall style bar with great bloody marys and a cool mix of people. Also, Toronodo in th Lower Haight has the largest beer selection in SF. If you're hungry you can bring food in from any of the nearby eateries and Rosmude next door is a local's favorite.
Check out sfist.com and funcheapsf.com for stuff to do.
Dress warm. It's cold here in the summer.

^ zeitgeist is awesome - just prepare for the shitty service.

^ pancho villa is a great taqueria. get a side of cebollitas (grilled green onions) as they are incredible.

get a drink at the kilowatt bar (16th and albion). you'll be following in the footsteps of some pretty cool bluelighters :)

lol zeitgeist..first place i ever encountered crack. there was some biker having a birthday party there and people were doin it big.

and if you can go to pancho villa during lunch they have a mariachi band that comes in and plays! However I'd be careful in some parts of mission after dark. Its not extremely dangerous like the TL, but I was in the middle of a gunfight there. As in the dude in front of me was literally busting shots at some dudes right behind me. Pretty much if you stay alert and use your head though you'll be fine.

Also I had fun going to the bars in chinatown too, but I forget the names of them. Some will let you stay after 2 if you keep buying drinks.

I ended up checking out little italy for coffee, going to Cafe Flore for brunch (I highly recommend it!)... what else... wandering haight pretty damn high.
