Heroin Violent Nodding: AKA Look the F out!

So love it or hate it..all of us junkies nod out, it's sometimes unavoidable. That withstanding.. most of my nods in the past have been fairly normal. I'd fall out for a bit, and then just come too. Yeah, there would be a bit of a head jerk here and there, but nothing that major.

Well, as of recently..I am violently coming out of my nods. Hah. It's ridiculous.. I mean, arms flailing, feet coming off the floor, knocking shit over. Like..you do not want to be around me now when I'm on a lot of dope and I fall into a nod..I'm dangerous!

Anybody else ever experience this sensation? I've been using for the better part of a decade and have never had this kind of intense phenomenon happen to me. It really is quite jarring when it happens.
 
IME..from the way you describe the "violently coming out of my nods", it sounds like the signs of a panic attack and might not be related to the regular "nods" that you are experienced with.
It could also be a symptom of some sort of withdrawal or an underlying psychological issue that could be happening to you at this time.
Hope this makes sense.
 
Sounds more like slight ODs, is your dope stronger than normal? Do you have a headache when you cone to sometimes?

Nah, not really. I've been doing the same dope now for a couple weeks pretty consistently. I feel fine when I come out of it..almost refreshed. It really wakes me up...like after you wake up from an intense nightmare or something, that jarring feeling.
 
Dude I get the nod twitches too. ... Ur not the only one. Dunno y but I hypothesize cuz of the copious drugs ur motor reflexes are jumpy. Like what happens in tardive dyskenisia Due to super high doses of dopamine being fully removes from this area long term causing the twitch ...
I feel like opioids Long term surely effect some stuf in that region of the brain cuz there are a lot of opi receptors there

I could be totally wrong but this was my theory about mine
 
I wonder if u're not pinching off air supply... Do you have apnea? I wake up like that when my airway gets cut off... I have to position my head to the side when I feel the nods coming on or I wake in a panic... Have somebody u trust watch you next time if you can bro!

No, it makes no sense.

Anyway, OP I have experienced what you described but luckily it doesnt happen often.
 
I have experienced this. It came whenever my use would get way out of hand and my mental state would start deteriorating.
 
This is called hypnic jerk. Most likely caused by your muscles relaxing and your brain then thinking you are falling, jerking your muscles to prevent it. Get more sleep/stress less.
