What is to be said of one of the highest-rated games of all time?

This game has everything one would want from a fighting game: Different fighting styles, weapons (the focus of the game), interesting characters, engaging story, and, err... boobs, I guess.

My character of choice is Voldo, and I've beaten so many people with him :). His "physics" sort of come naturally to me.

Sound: Great, unintrusive soundtrack, excellent sound effects. 4/5

Graphics: Some of the best on the systems it was released on. Wonderful, colourful art, unique character designes, and beautiful, animated backgrounds. 5/5

Story: Probably the best story in a fighting game ever. It is difficult to make a good story for this genre, but this one works! 4/5

Gameplay: Simply the most fun fighting game I've ever played. Lots of replay value, lots of reward from finding new weapons and devising new strategies. Huge moves lists that are very unique to each character. 5/5

Overall: 5/5. My favourite fighting game.

NOTE: This post is about SC IV.

I hired this game the other week. I enjoyed it. I'm not an avid fighting game fan, but I did like this game.

The character creation option seemed pretty cool and I could see it adding a lot to the game. I mainly just used it to take the clothes off the female fighters.

Character designs stood out to me, they are fantastic. Upon seeing certain characters I found myself saying "awesome", like I was a little kid again.

I thought Nightmare looked way cool:

I found the character's stories a bit brief and kind of, um, odd. I'm referring to the writing that appears when you start story mode with a character and then complete the fights and are then shown a brief clip with the character obtaining the sword and gaining some sort of closure to their story (or not gaining closure, more often ;)).

However there may have been aspects to the story that unfolded later or that I didn't pay attention to, as I only had it on rental for a night.

I played on Xbox360, so Yoda was the Star Wars character in the lineup. Before I played the game I was a tad disappointed that the PS3 version got Vader, as Vader would be damn cool to play as. But upon playing as Yoda my disappointment was turned to more calls of "awesome". Yoda actually looks pretty cool, and the way he jumps around is entertaining. The physics system for him as a character seems the most different from the other characters I played as. As for the whole idea of cross promotion... who cares it's Star Wars!

The character I played as most was Ivy:

I could try and cite her whip as the reason (the whip can be switched between three different styles with the press of certain buttons), but in all honesty I just wanted a perve.

^ Haha. Yes, Ivy is pretty interesting (and seems to have become even more naked in the 3rd game!) and seems to suite a very specific taste.

Just a note, I think you're referring to Soul Calibur III, since you cite character creation. But that's ok, apparently not much has changed since the 2nd.

I have not played the 3rd (or 4th of that matter) yet...

Btw here is Voldo as he appears in the 4th game!

Ohhh. Yes I'm referring to Soul Caliber IV. That's kinda funny. I guess I'll just blame the expectancy effect... and alcohol. ;)
