Video Game: Guitar Hero: Metallica (XBox 360, PS3, Wii)
For those of you that have played it, what is your thoughts?
I think they picked almost all of the best Metallica songs that they could have, but they could have added a few more. Here is a review I did for the Guitar Hero Forums the Wednesday after it came out:
I've been a metalhead since I was a kid, I remember when I was 4 years old and my dad would throw on the "Master of Puppets" vinyl and I would jam along with it. Then as he moved on to other bands (and he started moving away from metal due to him going to church all the time) as I got older, I would play those vinyls when he wasn't home as loud as the stereo could handle lol. I have almost all of the main albums, and I can say that they should have added a few more songs from the "Load and "Reload" albums. They aren't as crazy fast as the earlier stuff, so for the people who don't like metal, they could like songs like "Hero of the Day" and "Mama Said."
As for playing it, I went thru drums on hard (not a drummer....yet), and beat the game playing what my arms and legs could keep up with. "Fuel" was the first song that gave me trouble, but I practiced it for about 30 minutes before trying again in career. After that I stuck to the not-so-fast songs just to beat it. After the busy weekend I have ahead of me, I won't have time to play, so my arms and legs will be ready to tackle the tough songs. I've also done a few expert+ runs to check it out, and I like the challenge. I can play thru "Where Ever I May Roam" without too much trouble, except for the pedals sliding around too much. I tried playing "One," and I can get thru the double bass section in there, but where it speeds up I just can't keep up. I made it 98% thru "Fade to Black" as well, and made it about 1/2 way thru the end riffs, which is all double bass, before I failed it. Once I can get some endurance I should be able to play that with no problems.
Since I wrote that review I have moved on to playing most of the slower songs on expert, and now I play Fuel on expert plus. It's much easier on expert plus in my opinion, because the section that gave me trouble before only had a few bass pedal hits on hard difficulty, but on expert plus, that whole section is double bass and tom hits, meaning all for limbs are going at the same time, making it easier to stay on beat.
