Hi guys,

tomorrow, a tooth of mine (a "third one" xD) will be removed by surgery. I know that i should neither smoke weed nor tobacco at least 2 weeks after the surgery, because it's bad for the wound healing.

I want to know, if this applies to vaporizing the weed, or if this will not do any harm? I use a Vaporstar mechanical vaporizer, heated by a lighter (works really well for me btw, except you need a lot of lighters if you hit it regularly^^) , if this makes any differece to eg. a Volcano >>>

Vapor technically isn't smoke and is much less harmful to open wounds in your mouth but I still wouldn't recommend it.

Letting your mouth fully heal > getting high for a week

^agreed

but it is doable....if your gunna do it...just keep the sockets fresh.....

i smoked and drank after getting all 4 wisdom teeth out....

It's not the smoke that poses most of the risk of dry socket, it's the action of sucking on a pipe/joint/vape/bong, etc.

Dry socket is one of the most painful dental conditions that people commonly get, I recomend looking it up if you aren't familiar with it, it's extraordinarily painful.

From my research that I did when my wisdoms were removed, you should absolutly not inhale from a pipe, blunt, joint, cigarette, bong, vaporizer, etc- anything that causes suction in your mouth. You can't even drink from a straw for the first day. You should keep this up for at least 3 days, but more is better. I smoked 3 days after having mine removed and I was find, and by that time the risk is substantially lower. I recomend making edibles for the days that you won't be able to inhale, that's what I did and it worked like a charm.

If you start smoking again within a week of the surgery you should rinse your mouth with warm salt water, focusing on the extraction sites after each smoking/vaping session. Keep the area very clean.

i dunno if this helps.... i thought it was the smoke (dried them out), guess not....

but i exhaled through my nose...haha

Exactly this. I've had 4 wisdom teeth pulled, another random tooth pulled, and another oral surgery...I smoked cigs and weed after all of them. Not the day of, too doped up from the medications given to me during and for after surgery. The oral surgeron told me that if you just MUST smoke, to wet a small piece of gauze and place it over any of the surgical areas. Apparently it keeps it moist, and absorbs most of the harmful tar and such before actually reaching the wound area.

Had my wisdom teeth removed in June. had all four pulled at once, started smoking weed the morning of the 3rd day. By the 7th day I had a dry socket and I had been putting gauze over the stitches to try and prevent the smoke from reaching them. It's a risk your going to be taking and I have to admit the pain from the dry socket was horrible and the painkillers and weed don't help especially when you get food lodged in there. Just make sure that you get one of those water squirters that looks like a needle to squirt the food out and youll be alright.

i smoked after i got my wisdom teeth out and this is what i did:

i would wad up some moist gauze or paper towels and bite down on those in the back of my mouth. then i'd smoke pulling very lightly from the bowl. afterwards, i'd make sure i had a bottle of saline solution to wash the sockets out with (don't swish, just rock ur head back and forth to the sides, and don't spit it out either, but i'm sure u already know this)

i had all 4 wisdom teeth out, and all were impacted. i was pretty worried i'd get a dry socket, but i didn't. oh, and i also didn't smoke until day 5, but my case was pretty bad because i couldn't even eat solid food for 7 days, and technically i wasn't supposed to eat solid food for 2 weeks, but everything ended up turning out o.k.

at first, thank you for your replies!

After reading them, i think I would stick with edibles for the next few days, maybe some cacao for tomorrow as I'm going to stay at home anyway.^^

smoking in general was never an option, and if some people here think, vaporizing may also cause problems, I think, I'll leave it for a few days. Probably the better choice.

If you have a club card, why not get thc pills or an edible of some sort?
there is no cannabis prescription in the country I live in. (; You guys in America should be glad, that this is possible in some states of yours!

but my case was pretty bad because i couldn't even eat solid food for 7 days, and technically i wasn't supposed to eat solid food for 2 weeks, but everything ended up turning out o.k.

I had a similar situation, I had friends who were eating solids two days later, and I went about 10 days on PLAIN mashed potatoes (the salt is excruciating) and chocolate pudding.

Oh, and I have also had friends whom have never smoked anything in their life develop horrible and painful dry sockets, although they didn't use straws or do anything they weren't supposed to --- I think rinsing out your mouth everytime you put anything in it (NO SPITTING FOR 3 DAYS) is also a good preventative measure.

yup did the same here ,cept for the drinkin hada few but thats it,
I just made sure to constantly rinse with salt water.
Aslo i had all my teeth removed and am supposed to get my new teeth tomorrow.
It also helps with singular extractions to have them put that clove tobacco stuff in the socket it helps a great deal, for pain and to keep it clean and helps it heal better..
P.S. lost my teeth that kept rotting after i started meth when i moved here about 6 years ago.
Binged on the stuff for like a year and my teeth went from great to all rotting...
Needless to say i quite about 5 years ago and still get cravings...

Do this.

Or if your wisdom teeth were not majorly impacted like mine were and you can actually eat solid food make some herb butter, Leary biscuits/firecrackers, or extract the THC into cooking oil and use that.

If you've read my last post, you would have seen that I already made that decision. but thanks again (;

also I think I will stay sober until my stitches will be pulled, in about a week. Pushing tolerance a bit down :D

hehe no problem. :D

made some hashoil out of low-potency outdoor-weed today. looking forward to try it the next week. i hope it will blast me away :D

becareful specially if its your wizdom teath or even any teeth, you can create a "dry socket" very painful, i think its when an air bubble forms in your once filled tooth cavity
