I am prescribed Valium and going to Laos for a month I plan to get opium shakes and smoke opium while there I was wondering if the Valium would interact as it would with other opiates ?

Yes it will, I suggest keeping the dosages of both as low as possible.

All benzos react with all opiates. Always keep that in mind. Many deaths have come from the combination of the two. Two CNS depressants in high amounts can cause respiratory depression and you'll stop breathing.
If you must take them at the same time, lower your dosages from the usual and always wait 45 minutes or so to redose more of a benzo.
