Greenlighter
Hello all.
I just wanted to get on and update the Bluelighters of the world. In the summer of 2010, I started smoking heroin and had quite the habit for about a year. I then, graduated to shooting the heroin, at which point, my addiction had completely bankrupted me and stressed all of my relationships to the point of ending them. Luckily, my parents, wanting nothing but to help me, sent me to a really good Detox and Rehab facility in Lubbock, TX (I'm from SE New Mexico). Upon completion of the rehab, I was clean for about 7 months until relapse. I then started smoking and occasionally shooting heroin again and pretty much reversed everything I worked for. I started taking Suboxone 8mg sub-lingual strips (taking a quarter daily for six days). I then lost all connects for Suboxone and thought it would be a good idea after 8 days of complete sobriety to smoke heroin again. I'm now feeling some really intense withdrawals and its pretty much miserable. My mom just had toe surgery and received Tylenol 3, which we're all aware that these pills contain 30mg of codeine. I've taken two today and my mood is fantastic, but my body still hurts extremely bad.
Now, with all that said, here's the point of this post:
I have my vacation week this week (I've been an accountant for 3 years since college and have acquired this vacation week, so it was the perfect time to detox.) and I've been fishing, hunting coyotes, scouting deer, riding ATV's, playing soccer, flirting and being promiscuous, drinking a few beers after work with my pops, smoking a good amount of pot, and anything else that I generally enjoy doing. I find that stuffing your entire day (every waking moment) with something you love doing helps tremendously with the physical pain of withdrawal. Mind you, I HAVE taken a small amount of codeine (60mg today) to combat the mental cravings/depression. That said, I never got to do these things that make me so happy at all during my addiction, so its all so new and the allure of each activity is amazing, I feel like these things (since I enjoy them so much) are helping me release the ever precious endorphin and thus making my day that much easier.
I was wondering if anyone has noticed this or is willing to give it a try and report the results? Maybe I'm just crazy or under the spell of placebo. I encourage you guys to let me know what you think, after all, we're all junkies and we really don't want to withdrawal, or at least make it as easy as possible. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I don't wish dopesickness upon my worst enemy.
Definitely don't stick to the activities I listed. Do things that YOU love to do. If you're one to knit a beanie, go for it. Haha. Happy Detoxing BL, everyone deserves to be clean.
**Sorry for the length, again, I'm new here. Just trying to get introduced to everyone and figure this whole thing out. Thanks for reading. Any reply means a lot.**
