There's been no studies on using Ketamine for weight loss, but it's common for users of Ketamine to lose weight. Ketamine is already being used to treat depression. It would be interesting to see it being used as a weight loss drug also. What are your thoughts on this ?

There was a recent paper (open access) about fusing MK801 (super powerful NMDA antagonist for research) to a GLP1 peptide (ozempic is a modified form of that), to cause NMDA inhibition only in circuits related to feeding.

They used a special disulfide linker that comes apart inside of cells, freeing the MK801slide into NMDA channels inside of the GLP1 receptor containing cells.

That group references weight loss effects from MK801 but refers to excessive hypolocomotion, which is a wonderful euphemism for saying "these mice were K-holing (or MK801-holing).

Of course an actual version of this drug in humans would likely use some arylcyclohexylamine, as there is some (correct) fear of MK801 causing Olney's lesions.

Funny thing about MK-801. I don't see any real analogs of it, such as adding methoxys to the Phenyl parts of its molecular structure.

I think people are afraid of its toxicity. It is basically a constrained relative of PCP, so there must be places where a carbonyl gives a metabolic handle or places where electron donating/withdrawing groups could alter the pharmacology.

I think it's good that the general drug making population has considered it a line too far. Even ignoring neurotoxicity concerns, from the few MK-801 trip reports, it definately seems to have the reputation of being "too fucked".

Does anybody here know how to get or find ketamine therapy or how to professionally get into that? I’ve had the shit a million times from the club. Never shot it up, but I’ve heard that’s what they do in a professional setting

Not looking for a specific place just maybe some way to go about asking the right professional for the therapeutic route of doing it. I’ve heard of people getting it I just don’t even know who I’d ask to look into it. My current dr is an addiction specialist but she’s abstinence based care so it’s probably not possible through asking her. I wouldn’t be on here asking where to find shit that’s just newb af

ask Claude 3.5, ask Gpt 3.5, ask perplexity AI, ask Google maps with AI ext., a little joke but yeah,

Ask any other psych, therapist, maybe even someone in public hospital any doctor or theapist that deals with TRD treatment resistand depression or mayor one

This is a real thread, but just go looking for one of my Trick or Treat posts. Find the misinformation.

Usually you need to have major depressive disorder and have already tried all available medications with no or little result, after you hit that point they may recommend ketamine therapy depending on your physician and what's available in your area
