Hello

I am currently doing research into the uses/ health risks associated with Mirtazapine for my masters project. If you could be grateful to complete my short survey regarding this, which will allow me to gather and find gaps in the current knowledge. This will help me so much with my project.
Survey is completely anonymised and has ethics approval.
(Hope it is fine to post this here)

Thank you!

I've been on mirtazapine for three years daily I feel like they have saved my life before I was suicidal for like couple years.
And mirtazapine felt like lifting me out of that deep dark hole of depression and for me it blocks all suicidal thoughts.

The only bad thing is that it has made me kinda chubby since I been taking it for three years I'm not fat but I need to lose weight I'm just not normal size anymore I'm not fat but I got a beer type belly from them and some of my clothes won't fit at the moment.
The weight gain really sucks but it's better than the other side effects of other antidepressants like weird sexual side effects..
But just for the record I now take mirtazapine mixed with clonazepam and they work very well together

I have major depressive disorder with an anxiety disorder and some panic attacks. And sometimes Lil slight agoraphobia.

I really think it's better than a lot of other antidepressants out there. It saved my life

But the weight gain is hell

But other than that I feel way more mentally healthy than I have been in years

Thank you for your comments, will definitely help in my research.

See this thread, specifically the last post and the thread linked in it. I've been on the stuff for 3.2 years now and things have gradually improved. Being bi-polar, the list of antidepressants that could help is rather short; mirtazapine was one of the magic bullets for me. I take it as a sleeping pill / antidepressant, so I don't consider the sedation as a side-effect. What I do consider side-effects are mostly my monstrous appetite after it kicks in and very vivid dreams (more about that here).

I hope that helps.

Done. I'm amazed that this seems to be used as a recreational drug when my experience of it was so traumatic and frightening!

Done.

I don't find Mirtazapine at all recreational. I only ever use it for sleep.
