Ive had my fair share of drug use and on a sober day i feel anxiety and depersonalation. I been to a free clinic but only got abilify. The abilify helps but the valium makes my day so much better.

If i could get a script of valium and take it responcibly would tolerence on a prescribed dose be a problem. Would i have to keep upping the dose to get the same effect?

Not necessarily, but coming off of them won't be easy. Benzos cover up your anxieties by suppressing your CNS, they don't remove them. In the long run you will thank yourself for working through it without the crutch. If you are taking it PRN that is a little different (not as bad). Either way, I wouldn't recommend it. I say this having been prescribed benzos before. They sort of "put off" the healing process. Just my experience.

So you suggest let my mind heal without anything just being sober for a long period of time?

For depersonalization? Primarily benzos and SSRIs. Naloxone and naltrexone have been used experimentally says wiki.

I wouldn't recommend going COMPLETELY sober at the outset, then again, you haven't given us much background. What drugs were you using, how often, for how long, and at what age did you start? Circumstances, etc. I'm hitting the sack now but I bet someone will jump in with another word before I get back to the thread.

What would be a mild benzo dose that could be prescribed for this. Like valium at what dose for how long and what kind of taper. Would getting valium and taking as prescribed be beneficial and would a taper be without harm done.

I've found that taking days off once a week or so has been helpful to avoid any problems. I'm prescribed xanax 0.5mg twice daily if needed. I will use both if it's a particularly stressful day, most days I will just use one.

But yes tolerance develops so it's important to avoid upping the dose all the time. If used at low doses to take the edge off they can be very helpful. But if used to completely sedate yourself and avoid learning other coping skills then there seems to be a pretty common result of huge tolerances and nightmare stories of trying to get off them.
