Opioids Unusal tolerance to Oxycodone... or not?

A very brief outline of my past current usage to help you answer my question below:

I have been taking Oxycodone for 18 Months after a back injury. For the first 6 months or so I took it almost as per instructed: 1 x 20mg (12hour Extended Release) twice daily.

As the months went by, my back improved and I started to alter the dosage and ROA to get a nicer buzz since I had plenty of tabs left over. A better buzz was soon realized by crushing the tabs fine and taking rectally.
It is now to the point where I get my months worth of Oxy 20mg's (1120mg Total) and take them all within 3 days of getting the script). This means I then go without any Opiates for approx. 27 days but I have no withdrawals whatsoever. Is this unusual? Isn't Oxycodone extremely addictive? :\

Each month when I start my 3 day binge, my first dose is 120mg Rectal twice a day and this does me nicely. It then creeps up to 220mg rectal per dose by my last day (day 3).

Is there some sort of residual tolerance at play here, as from what I understand the half life of oxy is 3-4.5hrs?

Also in closing, I would like to add that I have tried 160mg as my first dose on one occasion, this extra 40mg was enough that I was found totally unconscious on the lounge room floor in the middle of the night by my wife who said my face blue in colour and my stomach was "sucked in" and concaved, my breathing was very shallow and I was completely unresponsive to slapping, yelling and splashed water. Thankfully she called an Ambulance and they hit me with some Narcan after noting my constricted pupils amongst other signs and I came to instantaneously. :?

Has anyone had their stomach get "sucked in" when unconscious before?

Thanks for reading...

^because of the amount and apparent tolerance. I use oxy almost daily. Those doses would likely kill me. I too find it strange.

All I can say is that going 27 days without and then using that amount (any ROA) is not safe. Even if for some weird ass reason physical withdrawals haven't, they will. This I guarantee.

It's weird you've got such a small difference between getting high and ODing, oxy usually gives you much more room for error, but I've never done it rectally before. If 40mg extra had you overdosing, maybe try 10-20mg more than usual? Just remember that your tolerance should be back to normal after that long without it, so doing doses that big each time is needlessly risky and I'm surprised too that you haven't experienced any withdrawals. Although using for 3 days at a time is technically short enough time not to get any withdrawal, the doses you're using would probably cause some anyway, just from that much oxy leaving your system.

It can take a long time in the beginning before one picks up their first habit, (meaning psychical dependency). But trust me, it'll happen eventually if you continue to use regularly. Then every time you get clean and start again, you'll become dependent faster and faster.

Do yourself a favor and limit your use now so you don't pick up that first habit, because it'll change your life forever.

How come you were not addicted when taking daily? No, you won't get addicted by doing it 3 times per month but 3 times per month can turn into 30 days out of 1 month in no time. I've never done it rectally...just in the nose. Don't think that would matter though.

Caution...the first time you do it more than the 3 days...STOP. Tell your doc that you don't need them. It's a nasty road to go down. Addiction is.

DangerousD: when I took them daily, it was because my back was sore so I was only taking 40mg a day so it was really pretty easy to drop that amount completely and swap to binging.

I am currently on the first 24 hrs of my binge after 29 days off and my first dose 20 hours ago was 120mg(usual for me after my month off) followed by 40mg refresher, then 150mg and am now contemplating another 135mg I have ready to go. That's 445mg in a day after 29 days without!

It must be a residual tolerance as my body has got into this month off routine and protects itself by holding tolerance? That's my theory but not sure, thanks for the inputs so far, any other ideas...? Anyone else know of similar tolerance anomalies? If so, please reply or just let me know your general thoughts. Thanks for everyone's input so far. To be honest I didn't even realise I was pushing it as hard as I am until reading your replies!

Thanks

If you don't need it anymore, you should stop taking them period. Like everyone else said, opiate addiction is something that you do not want. It usually always starts with some sort of injury.

Please...stop playing guinea pig with your life. Sounds like you almost lost it.

I don't think anyone here can give you a real scientific reason.

Follow everyone's advice. The only way this will end good is if you stop or control the dosage. After 29 days your physical tolerance is as close to baseline as possible. Those are OD doses, and eventually one you might not wake up from.

We are not talking out of our asses. You have people with untold years of cumulative opiate addiction experience here. Very hard to learn from others mistakes, but please check out the dark side forums. No one walks down this road and comes out unscathed.

I appreciate the the previous few posts warnings in regards to dosage, I will keep them in mind and check out the dark side area of the forums for a reality check of sorts.

Unfortunately, after 20 years on psychotropic roller coaster ride, nothing is scary to me anymore. Hopefully some of the "dark sides" truths will plant a seed in my subconscious... So my conscious mind can smoke it!

Your physical tolerance and psychological tolerance often don't go down together.

Example: I started heroin and could make .1 last all day for awhile. After a year I was using at least 1 gram a day. I am currently clean and have no tolerance, but if I started to use again I have no doubt that I would be using a gram a day within one week (instead of one year). Simply because I have already paved that road and my mind thinks I need it.

Maybe you are experiencing something similar? Sorry if that doesn't make sense, its the best I can think of without just telling you to stop doing it haha. Please keep us updated on your situation, best of luck to you sir.

if your oxycodone was IR, then i would be like, you are lying lol, but because oyu have the OP oxycontin then i believe you. even if you crush up the pills, the ER is still not broken. you have to do some serious chemistry to break the OP extended release. the ER for the OP is embedded into the chemical structure of oxycodone, unlike just a polystirex coating like the old OC use to have.

for the OP, i can take like 300-400mg and be like buzzing. the OP's are bitches IMO. they arent good for getting high

That's the thing here in Australia we get the OC not the OP version and I crush Finley and they hit instantly, go figure? I can't??
