The Joe Schmo Show

I dislike reality TV. I think it's badly named, and it does nothing for me. I'd rather have a good old fashioned scripted show any day.
But damn it, I can't help it... I like the Joe Schmo Show.

Matt is truly a stand-up guy. Maybe a little slow on the uptake occasionally, but I would like having this guy as a buddy. And a couple very attractive girls I know told me they'd date him in a second.

All I can say is that when the dust clears, they'd better give him the $100,000. I feel bad for him, but the good thing is he has carried himself very well the whole time.

Any other Joe Schmo viewers out there?

Yeah I've seen like two episodes. I just like the idea more than anything, though. And I want him to totally flip the fuck out when they tell him its all staged. Don't they reveal it to him this/next week?

Yup. This show rocks. At first I thought it was a stupid idea, but I love the the characters in the show and I wait in anticipation to see what comes next. And Matt is the perfect guy for a show like this.

LOL @ the Bee suit. Too funny!

I'm addicted to it as well. next week is the final episode when he finds out the truth. I honestly don't know how the actors have made it this far. Its too hillarious watching them all do these absurd tasks or immunity and watching them sit through the over dramatized eviction ceremonies while knowing that its all fake. I think the host is the funniest one - he's so cheesy it hurts. good tv for sure.

Yah! They said that we don't know how it's going to end, and If we think we do, we are wrong.

So I am expecting all kinds of crazy shit to happen. Maybe Ralph will declare his love for Molly and Matt. And they will want to have a 3-way in the hottub. Or The Hutch and Ashleigh kill Dr. Pat because she is the only one that knows about the "secret plans." Or Vanessa claims that she is pregnant with Kip's baby.

I'm hoping for a whole lot of overacted drama.

LOL

ROFL

sigh - as much as i hate TV, this show made me want to get cable. i watched the first 2 episodes when i was visiting my parents a month or so ago. i loved it. y'all will have to tell me what happens when he finds out.

I've only watched one episode but I think it's mean what they are doing to him. I really feel bad for the guy. I hope they give him something in the end.

hmm, never having seen the show, can someone please elaborate on the premise?
Is it something about a guy who thinks he is on a reality show, but everything is staged? And when is it on?

its on spike tv on tuesdays. there will probably be a marathon of all the episodes before the final show next week - check you local listings

as for the premise all these people are on a reality show called The Lap of Luxury. basically, they are housed in this mansion while they do these absurd immunity challanges (like licking chocalte off naked models, being covered in honey and rolling in money) to avoid getting voted off during there eviction ceremonies. Here's the twist, everyone on the show are actors playing roles (the asshole, the gay guy, the general, innocent girl, the nice guy...) except for one guy, Matt. he doesn't have a clue that everyone else are actors. during the show, the writers and producers rig the challanges to keep the show going in the way they want - for example, everyone wants the asshole to get voted off, but he makes it the the final 3 due to some "luck." and obviously Matt never gets voted off either.

it is kind of a messed up thing to do, but I think it will turn out well for Matt in the end. I'm sure he'll get the 100k and probably something else. funny show, check it out.

I've been watching this show whenever possible. I think it's awful what they're doing, basically, I keep watching because I am curious what his reaction will be next week when he finds out. Matt's an honest guy who thinks he's formed friendships with some of these people, I think his feelings will be hurt, he'll be humiliated, and pissed. And who could blame him for reacting in any way. They're messing with his emotions IMO.

I hope it ends well and he's not too hurt and embarrassed that all of this will be played out on TV for millions of people to watch.

Did anybody else notice that he made the comment about the guy being an actor on the last episode? (the exec. he spoke to about the food eating challenge)

One last thought, I think he deserves much more than $100,000. (I am pretty sure that's what the prize they've been told they're playing for is.) They should give him at least one-million after this is over.:\

DAMN IT - I Think I've Been Had!

Damn it, damn it, damn it...

I pride myself on the fact that I do not get fooled easily - if ever. I just have a knack for when somebody's pulling my leg. But I fear I've been bamboozled.

Let's look at the stereotypes:

The Smarmy Host
The Asshole
The Reality Expert
The Gay Guy
The Grizzled Veteran
The Quack
The Ritch Bitch
The Buddy
The Virgin

Well, Matt is just as much a stereotype as the rest. He's the straight up nice guy, plain and simple. In fact, I think he's TOO nice. And a little too quick with the answers on this last episode.

I suspect Matt's an actor too, and I bought it all the way until tonight, when I finally saw last week's episode.

I think I'm Joe Schmo.

i've never seen this show, but i've heard a lot about it. i agree with the people who said they think matt's an actor, too. i think the other "actors" on the show will find that out along with the audience. maybe i'll actually watch it tonight to see what happens...now, if only i knew which channel was spike tv.....

yeah, I like the way the broke it to him as well, very clever. I kinda wish he would have bugged out, but I was glad so see he was thrilled. it was cool they gave him all that stuff too.

what happened? i missed the ending!!!

i've seen a few episodes and some of the games are just ridiculous. you can't help but feel sad for the guy...but it's funny cuz he really tried his hardest...

they tally all the votes and hutch wins, then right in the middle of the celebration, the host stops everyone to say there has been a major violation of the rules
he says, "does anyone have anything to say"
finally hutch says, "alright, fine. my name isn't hutch. it's (his real name) and I'm an actor from LA."
everyone is pissed at him and he turns to the gay guy and says what about you. the gay guy stands up and denies it at first, then comes clean. He then says, alright lets all get it out in the open. Who here are actors. Raise your hands.
Everyone stands up and raises there hands. matt proceeds to freak out then, they explain everything to him. good times.
