tv: Paranoia Agent (aka Mousou dairinin)

Recently started airing on Cartoon Network, Saturday nights.

I'm really into this so far. I was able to get my roomate hooked. They're only about 4 episodes into it (of 13) so I wanted to hold my judgement until i'd seen a few.

Significantly more cohesive than something like Boogie Pop Phantom (and the much better Lane) but just as out there.

Each show they're only giving you a little bit about the enigmatic antagonist while giving us a glimpse of one new character, and then showing how they all fit together. My advice is that you start watching soon or grab the DVD's. I haven't seen it in subtitles yet...but i'm weird about buying anime that is already playing. I'll wait until it's been shown all the way through once probably before buying it. (I enjoy waiting kind of...stretches out the show, gives some suspense, etc.)

Anyone else or am I the lone weird-o this time (this time?!) ? If you've seen it before and spoil anything for me, I'll shiv you in the showers.

I've only caught bits and pieces of it, but I like what I've seen so far. It comes off as kind of pretentious for a story revolving around a street hockey/bat-wielding antagonist, but then again, I've only seen bits and pieces. I intend to catch the rest of this if I can.

I like it but im really trying to grasp for themes, other than connected human suffering.
But i'll continue watching it though.

Well I retract everything I said in my previous post. I caught the re-run of ep. 3 on Thursday and was infinitely impressed. As an added bonus I found out that this show was created by Satoshi Kon. I thought that episode had a Perfect Blue vibe going for it. Anyway, can't wait for tonight's ep.
