I remember watching this live on television, the first episode of The Daily Show after the events of 9/11. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect -- I watched The Daily Show often back in the day, and I was hoping for something like this. I wanted to see Jon Stewart's views on the situation, and it ended up being a really personable episode. I always pictured him as the funny man, but to see him break down like this, it seemed real, it humanized him for me.
 
his comment about the view from the studio was very touching. it was altogether a pretty emotional moment for a lot of people.

in the times since then the daily show went from a great funny show to something that has become truly special. it amazes me how a comedian who could barely land a film role could become one of the few people in the mass media who ever seems to speak the truth to the people.

i don't get it, but i'm happy the daily show is still going strong.
 
IMO, Daily Show ain't what it used to be.
Daily Show from 1998 to about 2002 was awesome. Funnier than the Colbert Report is now. Now part of it's decline is due to losing some great people (Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell, Mo Rocca, Beth Littleford, Ed Helm, etc).
I think the main reason is that Jon Stewart has forgotten how to be funny. He's too emotionally invested in politics these days to be truely irreverant anymore.
 
Not to mention they lost Dave Attell, one of the funniest mofo's out there.

i don't get why they're the only "news" broadcast speaking something resembling the truth about politics in america today.
 
i think the daily show continues to deliver quality comedy and quality satire. for me, colbert's show is way too self-indulgent and just doesn't hit the mark anymore.

of all the daily show leavers, i miss rob cordry the most.

I love Jon Stewart and the daily show. I remember seeing that episode after 9/11 truely touching. Thank you for posting this I looked for that clip a ew weeks ago on the comedy central website it wasnt there.
