TV: Empire Falls (mini series)

I'll be damned HBO has done it again! I'm hooked into another one of their programs.

I really liked this mini-series. It's about a small blue collar town currently in an economic decline, called Empire Falls. The series follows the happenings of Miles Roby a lifetime resident of Empire Falls and manager of the Empire Grill. Roby is surrounded by his dead beat father, brother, soon to be divorced wife, teenage daughter and manipulating boss Mrs. Whittey.

I enjoyed this mini-series a lot and I think the first half was a lot better than the second. A lot of good actors with characters that you'll love or hate and love to hate

I loved it (so much that I saved it on DVR). I was just the opposite of you, I thought the second half was way better than the first.

I loved Paul Newman's character

I really didn't like the unravelings of John Voss. They took that great character and just ran him into the ground (in the second episode). And really his actions didn't hardly effect any of the main characters besides Tick and Miles vacationing for awhile. I just think that sucked much of the second episode up. I have some more but I don't want to ruin too much of the plot for others that haven't seen it yet. I'll post some more of my complaints about the second part later.

^That is my only complaint about the entire series. I think they could have done something better with John Voss.

I think they could have turned John Voss into a giant hero, but I guess they made the series true to life. I don't understand why John didn't get Zack Minty....
