Tropane Alkaloids & MAOI's

I know that various Solanaceae plants are used in ayahuasca brews in various places. I was just curious if anyone knew if the MAOI effect of harmala alkaloids had any potentiating or mitigating effect on the tropane alkaloids' psychoactive effects. If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated. Links to studies or papers are certainly welcome as well!

There seems to be a quite a bit of anecdotal evidence suggesting that MAOi's and tropanes, or at least, general anticholinergics, are a bad combo. However, you would find similar sources saying DMT and MAOi's are a bad combo.

If acetyl-choline is a monoamine, then a MAOi would theoretically counteract some of the effects of blocking it. That said, a lot of chemicals, such as diphenhydramine or doxylamine, are contraindicated by MAOi's simply because things like histamine are monoamine's....

I'd say the tropanes alone are a pretty bad idea... but I'm working on a paper about religious imagery and visions and curious about whether people from the Levant would have possibly combined syrian rue and belladonna or mandrake in religious rituals. Use of rue, intoxicating mint, and various other herbs is fairly well documented, but the specific herbs other than rue & mint are a bit vague. Also, early christians appear to have used amanitas. However the story of the conversion of Saul seems to exhibit all the symptoms of belladonna intoxication, and i was curious as to whether it was likely done alone or in combo
