Trazadone, what do you think?

Depends on what floats yo boat. Trazodone is extremelyyyy sedative. Like egor said, its great for sleep, but for me personaly it is just too much. Even on 100mgs i am groggy for nearly 8 hours the following day. and when i try to take it recreationally i always regret it because of the effects it has on me. I can barely talk on that shit.

When i was on it, it made me feel like i was a zombie, i saw shadow people at night when i was trying to sleep & it has absolutely NO recreational value. Don't waste your time, it doesn't do shit.

Like they said above, it's awesome for sleep. It's also technically an anti-depressant, but I don't see why. 75 mg can make me sleep for up to 12 hours. It definitely knocks you on your ass!

i find 150mgs of trazodone has decent anxiolytic and sedative effects when i run out of benzos.

if you can stay awake you might get some enjoyment by smoking some weed with it.

This is a convenient thread to come across as I have a bottle of Trazadone waiting for me at the pharm...thanx for the info everyone, but please feel free to keep it coming.

Not really. They are usually given to those that they don't want to give ANYTHING abuseable to. I can often find upsides to most of the stuff many BLers don't find that attractive. But I found the stuff just put you asleep like it was supposed to and that is about it.

I've never experienced any recreational value with it. Makes sleep much easier to obtain, but man the dreams are crazzzy.

If your idea of recreation is getting a GREAT nights sleep then sure. Whenever I take them to sleep I always wake up with morning wood...

OK you should wake up with morning wood more or less everyday if you are under 40 but have you ever read this?

This would seal the deal for me if I had to wake up with a tent erected in my bed (esp if it was unusual unless on Trazodone):
In approximately 33% of the cases reported, surgical intervention was required and, in a portion of these cases, permanent impairment of erectile function or impotence resulted.

No thanks.

Trazadone

Hi, I am new here and saw your thread on Trazadone and wanted to post my limited experience with it. First, I was prescribed this from my Neurologist along with Percocet 7.5. This was in the beginning of my treatment for Nerve Damage pain and Winging Scapula. I took it right before bed one night and the overwhelming desire for sleep soon took over. It was about 10 minutes after ingestion by swallowing. I found it quite difficult to even make it up the stairs into my bedroom without help from my husband. It was quite scary and once in my bed, I immediately passed out. It was a very unpleasant experience and also the last time I took this medicine. Personally, I can't imagine anyone taking this med recreationally and I absolutely hated it. I am sure there are some valid reasons for needing this med but I would rather treat my sleeplessness with something else. Since then I have changed docs and am now on a new treatment that includes OpanaER 15 mgs x2 daily and Percocet 10mgs/325 IR as needed every 4 hours. This is working far better than my original meds and I have no trouble falling asleep. Hope this helped.

I just realized that less is more here and will keep my posts shorter in the future. It was my first post and after I saw all of the ones before were usually one sentence I immediately regretted it. Sorry.

It always gave me very vivid dreams, but they were very bland and devoid of meaning. It would be things like getting ready for work or waiting in line at the gas station to buy a pack of smokes. I would remember just about every dream I had while on it, but I think the novelty of pointless dreams had some effect on that. I normally have very crazy (but far harder to recall in detail) dreams for comparasins sake...

Dont strive to keep your posts short. If people are lazy and dont want to read it fine, but dont withhold details to please the lazy;)

Yeah...

I put a tl;dr (too long, didn't read) at the beginning or end in bold when I get carried away but have a good point to make which I think was quite relevant. tl;dr is normally a summary in a few words.

Jules, your post wasn't very long at all compared to some of the posts people here make, don't hold back.

Trazodone to me has no recreational value and I actually found it unpleasant to take when I was prescribed it for severe insomnia. That said the extras I had when my medication was switched have proven somewhat useful for ending nights that have gone on way too long (when taking stimulants or hallucinogens).

The only recreational value it has is to knock yourself out after using recreational drugs and because of it's structure (semi-SSRI mechanism of action with weird pypiridine metabolites), I don't think it's safe for that purpose.
