Hi folks,

I took Tramadol (100mg retarded) pills for quite a long time now on prescription, 3x 100mg daily, due to a painful back lumbar disk herniation. Now my doctor suddenly refused to refill my prescription saying that it is "not good to take an opioid-painkiller for such a long time". It is day two after my last dose and I am feeling really ill. Not only the back pain is back again in full speed, I am feeling cold/fevery, weak and dizzy all the time, my head and chest hurt and I can't sleep. Do you know how long this withdrawl is going to take? What can I do to make the symptoms disappear? I am also thinking about going back to my doctor begging for a new prescription, it can't be a good move from going to 300mg to 0 in a day after daily use for over a year.

thanks in advance.

Ridiculous that he would just cut you off like that. Doctors do that all the time to patients on pain meds and it's fucked up. You should go see him and request that he at least taper you.

Anyway, the withdrawal itself will last about a month.. with the main physical symptoms going away after about a week, followed by generally just being uncomfortable. Because this is your first detox and only from tramadol, your withdrawals will not be very bad (granted you'll still feel like shit), and they wont last that long either. So, it's very possible that you'll be back to 100% physically in 2 weeks or so.

But like I said, definitely try and get your doctor to taper you at least, because it will make it much more bearable. Is he a GP or a pain management doctor, etc?

yeah, that's ridiculous that he would have you on such a dose for so long and then Bam.. cut you off cold turkey. NO WAY would I let that Fly.. first of all I'd go back and tell him that because of his Recklessness you are now in Major withdrawal and it is his Fault.. If he does not reinstate your prescription I would 1. report him to the Medical board for basically increasing your pain and suffering. .it's not like you went out and started taking this on your own.. the only reason you were on them is because HE prescribed them. and then I would 2. Tell him to fuck off and he can keep his services.. and Immediately find another practitioner.. I mean for an injury like that.. Tramadol sounds kinda weak anyway.. Remember these fucker work for YOU.. not the other way around.. There are many out there.. If you don't like what one does.. move on to the next.. I hope you feel better soon brother.

Definately look for a new doctor ASAP, in the mean time I would order some kratom online so you don't have to go through withdrawals until then. Jeez, doctors can be power hungry assholes sometimes, this is just plain cruel.
