Hi everyone! I "was" a heavy tram user. 1000mg a day for 6 years user. I was recently cut off completely. 1000mg a day to 0mg. 5 days without now. I'm pulling out every trick I can find in the book. I don't know any one who deals in tram or opiates here so I'm kind of hooped. I had made a case-study using meds I found around the house along with other "dopamine re-uptake inhibitors" to take the edge off but I can't find any SSRI's. I've been through opiate withdrawal before but that doesn't have anything on tram. Is there a place on this site where I can post my studies to see if anyone has any better ideas? Detox centers told me the symptoms will get worse and they can last up to 60 days. They said I have to go back on it but I legally can't. My medical condition is chronic pancreatitus. I would very much appreciate your feed back and wisdom. Thank you!

I assume you weren't prescribed 1000mg/day, right? Venlafaxine is very similar to tramadol in terms of its SNRI effect and getting a rx for it (US brand name Effexor) is pretty easy. The other half of the withdrawal is going to be from opioid agonism so anything that helps with opiate withdrawal would work.

You have my sympathies. Not only will you experience opiate withdrawal symptoms, you can also expect antidepressant withdrawal symptoms on top of it. You can substitute another opiate like kratom, but that's just trading one addiction for another. Tianeptine has mild opioid agonist effects and antidepressant effects, so that may be helpful too. (There's no withdrawal from tianeptine when it's used responsibly). Low doses of DXM have also been shown to be helpful for opiate withdrawal, but don't attempt to take DXM with tramadol still in your system.

At some point, you'll have to endure some level of withdrawals. Try to reduce external stress in your life as much as possible while you heal. Treat symptoms individually (i.e. ginger root for nausea, Imodium for cramping/diarrhea, etc) as they occur. Kava and valerian root are mild sedatives that might help you sleep or reduce anxiety.
