When I typed "pitchfork is owned" into google your post was the third result. When I typed "pitchfork media is owned" I got a "list of lies" from the website Terrible Information, with one lie claiming it was owned by Sony. Another google result said it was owned by Halliburton!

It's hilarious how evil conspiracies develop around anything that has any influence or popularity, and even funnier how people rationalize their consumption of unknown or unpopular media as a badge of their own personal authenticity. There also seems to be resistance to committing to anything current, as if people are waiting to make sure something doesn't get popular before they will endorse it. It's pathetic (not saying this is necessarily anyone here, just using posts here to illustrate these points).

Of what's been posted so far I agree with votes for albums released by Deerhunter, Caribou, Big Boi, and Four Tet. I'll have to sample some of the others I haven't heard yet. Thanks guys.

i'm not big on lists but there was some damn fine music put out by the following:

black mountain
jamey johnson
deerhunter
ryan bingham
broken bells
drive by truckers
black keys
railroad earth
trampled by turtles
MGMT

...off the top of my head.

pander only likes bands that don't have a record label and only like 10 or 15 people know about.
