Took an Aderall....and hated it.

I just happened to run across some cheap Adderall and said what the heck and picked up a few. I figured there might be a situation where I needed it to help me get things done. I generally don't mess with any kinds of pure stimulants, being much older and having high blood pressure and an enlarged heart (I am old). I also had a nasty ice habit 30 years ago, but have not touched the stuff since. But I heard that Adderall was relatively safe

Well sure enough I had some business that needed to be taken care of at 1:30 AM and took a 30 at 10 PM. I was defiantly wired up and my resting heart rate was elevated (and blood pressure) but there was no euphoriation. The it kept me up until 6 in the morning. I read that it is only supposed to last 4-6 hurts. I took 2 mgs of Xanax to come down but barely felt it

In short, I hate this drug. I should not be messing w/ it anyways, but sheesh it does not even get you high.

Was my experience normal?

No, this was genuine pharm. I used to get street meth ranging from biker garbage to the purest ice made by a Berkely chemistry PhD student. It was def real just less euphoriating.

In any case, with my age and heart I should not be messing with any stimulant. Even Ecstasy is pushing things. I also can get extremely pure coke. Love that but really have to be careful.

I'm not doubting your experience here @Psynaught but how are you sure that these were real? In this day and age, the only way I would feel certain I had genuine Adderall would be to pick it up from the pharmacy myself. You mentioned it was a 30mg tablet. By context of your post, I'm guessing it was an instant-release formulation. The orange, 30mg tablets are the most commonly counterfeited in my experience. They exploded in popularity at least on the east coast ~5 years ago and they are still around. They will almost always contain Methamphetamine, though that doesn't necessarily mean they're stronger than their true counterpart. I've used fake Adderall that wasn't 30% the strength of an actual tablet. Batches are going to vary.

Whether it was real or not, if you had a Methamphetamine habit in the past that I assume you worked very, very hard to beat, fucking around with this stuff is a mistake. You'd be better off investigating middle-ground stuff like Modafinil which is essentially supposed to fulfill the role of a stimulant without all of the reward pathways being triggered. I know it's been 30 years. I'm sure Meth took you to some pretty dark places. You seem to have a life now that could easily be sacrificed completely for a relapse on this shit.

Furthermore, not everyone who uses Amphetamines like Adderall report a purely euphoric experience. Yes, it is more commonly going to be experienced as pleasurable from person to person. That doesn't mean there aren't people out there who hate how tense it makes them feel or whatever other side effects they might experience. Your experience is definitely not anything out of left field. Amphetamines are typically clocked at 4-6 hours as this is the window in which the drug is going to be most effective for most people. Think of it as a bell-curve. This means you're going to have 4-6 hours of optimum effect from the drug, with a 2 hour phase tacked on in which you're still stimulated, but your levels are dropping fast enough that the drug is no longer "clinically" effective.
