I want to know how others deal with blunted affect, especially those of you who are lucky enough to bare any of the various personality disorder banners - be they ASPD, schizoid, psychopathy, or whatever flavor you prefer.
Previously, my experience on this and various internet forums has been one of silent observation. Yet, in recent weeks (having turned over one of those grand new leaves everyone is always going on about and taken some PhD licensed advice) I am commencing interaction.
So, let me take my seat in the therapy circle and begin: I am a psychopath. As a psychopath, I suffer from blunted affect, which is a not so fancy way of saying that I lack emotional reactivity (and for the purpose of this we will suppose that that has nothing to do with the fact that my reactivity might not be a failure of emotional expression so much as the true portrayal of inexistent emotion). Blunted affect is the stated reason of one particular individual (with whom I had sexual relations) to cut ties. Since sexual relations (and nearly monogamous ones at that) appear to at least be traditionally advantageous for homo-sapiens, I am calling upon the wealth of the interwebs for advice. So please, if you or a loved one have experienced blunted affect don't hesitate to post below.
