I've been a chronic smoker (lol) for the past two years. To myself I smoke about 2-3 grams/ day.

I smoke with my close group of friends, who are all potheads also.

For this reason i found it hard to 'cut back' as i can't really tell how much bud im consuming at any given time. We smoke about 2-3 times a day (on average). Far more during the summer though (more like 4-5 times)

Any advice on cutting back? I cant fall asleep unless i've smoked atleast once during the day (even then its kind of difficult) and my appetite is almost non-existent when sober...:o

Do you want to cut back because you don't want to get high as much, or because you don't want to go through as much weed?

How about one toke during the day and one a few hours before bed to start off with?

I have taken a break off pot for 8 days now, and it hasnt been easy.. I only smoked a few time a day too :\.

buy a little one hitter piece. everytime yur bros light up a bowl and throw it in the roto just have a personal bag and smoke the oney. just a good way to smoke less weed over time

benzo's for sleep

simple as that

the withdrawal effects of weed thank god are basically non-existant

i was a 24/7 smoker of weed for 6 months and when i quit after a massive panic-attack i quit and i experienced absolutely nothing in the way of withdrawal effects

this is one of the reasons why i love weed

For most habitual smokers, boredom is the #1 trigger for using.

So find something else to do when you're bored.

If you're just trying to cut back: Try and go as long as you can everyday before your first smoke. Stress-free, since you know you've got bud waiting for you, but also good conditioning as you learn that you have the will-power to control your use.

If you're trying to quit for a while: Exercise helps with sleep and appetite. Books help occupy time that might otherwise be spent smoking. Knowing that they'll be gone in about two days helps with cravings.

When ur stressed, have a hot shower. Use melatonin for sleep (melatonin is hugely depleted from pot us). Smoke spice instead, its less euphoric/addictive. If u wanna quit, itll be easier stopping than cutting back. i just switched to legal smoking blends...was hard for awhile, but got easier and easier. life is sooo much better when u can live without shit. (mind u, usa drug law is crap, so spice might not be available there soon). yeah, remember its detox, so youll need to replace ur melatonin, and flush thc etc out of your body (showers, cranberry juice, lots of water). For awhile itll suck. If u can live thru that ur saved.

Avoid ur mates when there smoking. Develop a backbone!

My mate's a chronic smoker (smoking for... since I've known him at school and we're now 23).
And I've made him pick up a habit of whenever he loads a bong, he remembers me saying:
"Smaller bowls [name]!"
And it's working :)

Other than that, most advice above is good, except:

You don't need to pick up a worse habit for a relatively small one.
Finding cures for boredom is the hardest yet best thing you can do.
I've found that outright quitting is easier than cutting back. It seems a mountain, but after the first few days you realize it's a molehill ;)
But when yer cutting back, it's there, it's ready for you to smoke. And most of the time it's hard to resist.
I can relate to the lack of appetite too. It will come back though, don't worry about that.
Anyway, good luck mate! ;)

You will probably have to avoid your friends and take a hint out of Narcotics Anonymous: Avoid people and places you used with or at. As long as you are around it and around people who smoke, you aren't going to have a prayer of a chance of stopping at all.

I know you don't want to stop permanently, but NA is right about avoiding people places and things. It helps, even though it's hard to avoid everything, to help you stop for a while or stop permanently. You should also probably not visit this forum or any other drug-related site or forum because it could trigger you wanting to smoke.

As for not being able to sleep, it will suck for a while but eventually you will be able to sleep on your own again.

I wish you good luck on stopping and cutting down for a while. Just remember, once you've stopped using for a while, and you decide to go back to it, it would probably be better as far as money and tolerance, to continue to minimize your pot intake.
