how is it that some people mdma can change their whole like showing them feelings of clarity, empathy, harmony and love... but others can miss the whole point and see it simply as a party drug?

this always boggles me.

To each his/her own. It's kind of like how people use marijuana to meditate. You obviously don't see that much anymore. Nowadays the media/society makes it obsolete. I think the same thing applies to ecstasy.

It's about what they're expecting and what they're looking for. Ecstacy doesn't FORCE someone into having a groundbreaking experience of love and universal acceptance, so if someone isn't looking for that and doesn't really know what it would look like if they were trying to look for it, they just won't find it.
