Yeah, X2K, i am pro-ghb and am sickened by the coverage it has gotten. But it's not a drug for popular consumption. In the USA, the general public is not responsible enough to handle a chemical like that. Our attitude to drug usage is either "drugs are evil" or "more is better", and ghb use does not fit well in either of those categories.
Moveover, very little of the party population of the USA has the responsiblity or the knowledge to dispense drugs safely. It's a hefty responsibility, and if some guy's doing it because he thinks it'll get him laid, that's going to lead to a lot of ugly casualties.
Better to keep the masses scared of using a substance, let them know how real the risks are, but feeding them lies is only going to get them riled up. Well, ecstasy didn't kill me, it's probably bs about ghb too, they will think.
MTV has a responsibility to the hip, trendy herds that they mass-produce to not advocate dangerous drug usage. They may glamourize it, but that will never change.
Dr. Drew's a straight-edge anyways, and he has to speak for the conservative view. That other guy, though, funny but very much a NY jerky boy who likes to laugh loudly at his own jokes, is a tard. Loveline started out on KROQ, 106.7 in the Los Angeles area and was originally hosted by the same Dr. Drew and created by the Poorman, a Newport Beach fixture. It used to be much better.
I'd just rather keep ghb out of the hands of the masses. If you gave it away at raves with detailed safety instructions, i bet that 1 out of 3 people would pass out, and that 1 out of every 10 would require hospitalization. Remeber, in this country we do everything to excess.
