I can not find much information on theobromine, specifically relating to cocoa. Hopefully someone here can help me out. I have heard of people taking large amounts of unsweetened cocoa powder as a stimulant. Besides the caffeine present, does theobromine act the same way? How different are their stimulant properties? Unless I'm completely mistaken and theobromine doesn't act as one at all.

Theobromine isn't much of a stimulant; it's got the phosphodiesterase inhibitor effects of caffiene without much of the adenosine antagonism. But I've no idea of the doses needed and given.

Theophylline has no adenosine antagonism, and is a pure phosphodiesterase inhibitor.

Anyway, you'll breath nice and clear, but I doubt you'll have much fun.
