Anyone else familiar?
To be, this series is better than Final Fantasy...it's easily my favorite role playing series. For those unfamiliar, what makes Suikoden so unique is that in each game you can recruit 108 different characters, which makes for quite the adventure. The combat style is very similar to Final Fantasy ( walk around, random battles, 6 people per squad)

I'm really only familiar with 1(PS) and 3(PS2) both are amazing...great music too!

Suikoden II is widely considered the best in the series. I can't say for sure because I've only played the first three, but the last two are supposed to suck.

Suikoden II is fun, but including 108 playable characters opens the series to the same problem Chrono Cross had; namely, there is little or no character development. I wasn't a big fan of Suikoden I or III, they just seemed like very standard RPGs to me. So was II, but it pulled everything off well and had a somewhat fucked up story that I enjoyed while in a similar state of mind (re: fucked up).

Suikoden is probably my favourite game series. I've played 1, 2, 5 and Tierkreis and keep meaning to get 4.

The second is probably my favourite but they're all damn good IMO, the soundtracks are seriously great too.

Think they did alright with the character development considering the sheer amount of the buggers due to the introduction of the detectives and that. You'd also get little events and stuff in towns depending on who was in your party, and they all play their own role.

Yeah, I fucking love Suikoden <3

I've heard the fourth one is bad and a demo I played confirmed that but I'm a bit of a completionist so...The fifth one is definitely not bad though, put around 180 hours into that one.
