The power of the mind

I've had multiple dreams where I've done drugs in them, and wake up with the effects one would feel on the drugs consumed inimaginary dreamland. For instance, last night, I had a dream that I smoked about 3 bowls out of my dugout, skated, but blew my hip out, so I self medicated on valium. Now, my skateboard is coming in the mail today, and I didn't consume much more than 3 beers last night, several hours prior to sleep. So I know its all in my head, but goddamn, is the mind a powerful tool. I feel stoned and very content, and my hip even hurts. Ate a big bowl of cereal because my mind thought I had the munchies, and am watcching Looney Tunes, laughing my ass off (we have the free cable so choices are limited). The episode is about how Bugs Bunny is addicted to sparkle, reminiscent of liquid cocaine! Has anybody else experienced this as I'm feeling? If so, how'd it go for you?

I've had this happen two times in my life;

The first was way back when I had first started smoking weed. About 5 months after I became a regular smoker the entire area went dry for about 3 months. There was nothing to be found anywhere, not even reggie.

A couple of months into that dry spell I had a dream where I was smoking a joint and upon waking up I did feel stoned for about a minute or so. When I realized it was all a dream I lost the buzz and was pretty pissed. :)

The second time it happened was during withdrawals from oxycodone. In my dream I was nodding out and when I woke up I again felt the effects for a short while. I was even well for about an hour after...strange but I wasn't complaining considering I was on day three or four of full on withdrawal.

I've also had times where I'd be smoking with a group of friends and have a nice stone going when someone would say something like; "Did you even get high? I'm not stoned..". Instant buzz kill! I'd go from a nice high to feeling totally sober...others in the group have experienced the same thing as I have.

The mind is a strange thing...wouldn't it be grand if you could turn the keys without having to use a substance? I've been meaning to study up and practice meditation for this very reason..but I always neglect doing so because I'm a lazy person. ;)

I've always wondered if there's potential in this in the realm of lucid dreaming.

I've had dreams like that, but I only feel the effects inside the dream, not once I wake up.

Interesting that you brought this up OP because I remember this being talked about when I went to rehab years ago. There was a name for it but I don't remember what.

I've experienced this as well. I once had a dream about 6 months completely clean from heroin and all other drugs/booze where I slammed some dope and I woke up feeling like I had totally relapsed and was very confused yet felt, amazing! It is crazy what the mind can do.

sometimes after I have a good fuck session it feels like I'm high on opioids. weird. ill actually catch a nod while smoking my after sex cigarette.
I actually accidently burnt myself with a cig after sex similar how I burnt myself nodding. guess I'm lucky to get that sensation. lasts a good couple hours too.

The feeling of euphoric recall doesn't last too long, but it is a very intense yet satisfying time. Sometimes if I crack my back or neck just right, I suppose I release some sort of opioid hidden in these deteriorated disks. That actual feeling is not as pronounced as what I previously described, which I think is intriguing.

If you bang too much and OD in your dreams, do you die in real life?

That doesn't happen. Cracking your back just feels good :p

Certain songs used to make me feel like I was on MDMA (again).. In can still kinda bring on the feeling just by pretending I am on it.

Well, we do have indigenous opioids our bodies can produce. Perhaps one can utilize the power of the mind and allow for such a release upon cracking one's back.

I've meditated before and have been able to get into a sate of enlightenment and slight psychedelic visuals while sober. It's more pronounced when I ground myself with nature and do it. Otherwise it's not as effective. I've compared the state of mind to a small dose of smoked DMT (~5mg) and it was very similar. Perhaps I'm tapping into the pineal gland and secreting some tryptamine goodies. ;)

Yes, it's a wonderful thing. I haven't had any astral projection or OBE's yet. I have had some VERY powerful experiences from Qi Gong, a sacred breathing exercise/meditation. By the end of it my body was vibrating and tingling full of ENERGY that felt like my body could barely contain it all. Very pleasant afterglow from it too. More people should try meditating and give it a chance.
