The End Of The Enjoyable Barbiturate?

If I had to choose a class of drugs that I find most enjoyable, I would have to choose good old Barbs, old being the emphasis. The currently sold phenobarbital and butalbital leave me yearning for the old Secobarbital and Amobarbital. Has anyone struck gold and stumbled upon any similar substances worth mentioning? I have scoured the research chemical sites looking for some analogue that comes close, but to no avail. Although it's not a barbiturate drug, I have found hope in the methaquaalone analogues. Such as methamethaqualone and etaqualone. Anybody else feel my pain??

when I did butalbital it didn't feel like much of anything to me, sugar pill almost.

Barbiturates can still be found for sale in the developing world. Including many of the more "high-octane" barbiturates like Nembutal (pentobarbital, most famous for its use in lethal injections). I guess the issue is that they've simply been replaced by (much) safer drugs which retain about equal effectiveness for the indications that barbiturates were commonly used for.
