The end of HIV/Aids may not be possible if the war on drugs continues

What exactly does this mean? Is the us really one of the countries like japan that wont let people with drug charges on there record in? surely not right? can someone clear this up?

No the United States government does not want people emigrating to the United States who are HIV+. As the article said there used to be a ban where if you were HIV+ you were not allowed to travel into the United States. I know that before you travel to Russia they make you take an HIV test and if it's HIV+ you can't go there.

Why that ban was lifted in the US, I'll never know.

Unless your jumping up and down on them without protection or sharin gear with them you have little to worry about. It's not like it's fucking airborne now is it? Banning people with shit like TB makes sense but not shit like HIV. Actually you should not shag anyone that you randomly run into without protection so this shit is just common fucking sense. Guess it's not that common though :\

It doesn't matter. They are enemies of the state and could spread the infection to ungodly levels. Not everyone with HIV even really cares if they give it to others. What about accidents with blood-blood contact? Rapes? We have enough problems with American citizens with HIV as it is. No need to add more into the mix.
 
I sort of see where you're coming from. We don't want the disease to spread.

Many contenders of your position see it from the point of the afflicted. As in its not fair that they're being discriminated against for something that they had little say in. It's no surprise that no one want to contract HIV, so most must have been in a really bad place to risk such a thing. Whether having unprotected sex after not being exposed to proper sex education, or a drug-user needing to shoot up or risk extremely debilitating pain.

Its not as if people with HIV by default have a vendetta against people without it though.

The accidents you speak of are pretty unrealistic; people only have a real chance of catching HIV if they exchange mucous or blood directly, which would basically just happen in sex or in the case of using an unclean needle. HIV-positive blood turns benign very fast when left out.

Someone who's HIV-positive would be extremely harshly punished if they raped someone.

So I don't think that spreading it in a country with a stable foundation of law-enforcement is a big deal if clean needles and contraception is available.

It works well this way: help the addicts (creating more work-ready humans to contribute to society) and control population growth (decreasing the likelihood that a child will have bad parents and a low quality of life), decrease incidence of HIV.
