Anyone ever been a fan of The Blood Brothers? "Young Machetes" is the absolute shit (as in good), but "Burn, Piano Island , Burn" is also amazing. I don't know how you would describe them if you haven't heard them, I guess you could say hardcore but it's not really typical hardcore. It's like hardcore on a lot of LSD. The album "Crimes" has a few good tunes but you have to get into the BB before you even attempt it, most people don't like it.

For first timers I recommend looking up:
Young Machetes-Camouflage, Camouflage
Young Machetes-Spit Shine Your Black Clouds
Burn, Piano Island, Burn- Every Breath is a Bomb
Burn, Piano Island, Burn- Ambulance vs. Ambulance
Crimes- peacock skeleton with crooked feathers.

You have to look past his voice, if it bothers you, and listen to the lyrics, some really abstract but meaningful shit for sure. Plus the fact that they are so together musically seals the deal..
 
I have enjoyed listening to the Blood Brothers in the past. A favorite of mine would be March On Electric Children, with New York Slave, Mr. Electric Ocean, Siamese Gun and Kiss of the Octopus being my picks off the album. However, their horrible singing abilities eventually annoyed me to the point where I could not listen to any of their new material.
 
March on Electric children! Blood Brothers fucking kick ass! I love those dudes for sure. I got to see them back when they were on tour for burn piano island burn. great show,they played with cursive(another great band). It`s too bad they broke up. I got a chance to see Billy and cody(guitar) when they came to town as Jaguar love. There was about 20 people at that show.
 
I got to see jaguar love also. It was kind of funny, some older guy was waiting for the band after them to come on and apparently he had never heard the bb or jaguar love and stormed out cussing because he disliked it so bad.

When did you see them play? I saw them maybe last year? In June-July,something like that. They were on some kind of magazine tour and they didn`t have a drummer. They "rocked"a drum machine.
 
Lets see I think it was like two years ago? They were on tour with Polysics.
 
ya tbb are great in concert, saw them at the glasshouse back in 05 or 06. was crazy how lame the scene was a few years later when i saw them with jaguar love. the stuff after burn piano island burn is hit or miss but still a great band
 
I just picked up Young machetes and burn piano burn on vinyl.Already had them on cd but I`m starting a record collection and thought "why not".
 
saw them a bunch before crimes came out, and then on the crimes tour. awesome.

i used to really like the song Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck - but i'm not quite sure why. I've heard several of their other songs though I wasn't particularly impressed. I think I'm gonna revisit them with some of the suggestions listed.
 
Really loved them when they were around but I do feel like The Blood Brothers had run its course. I almost like Jaguar Love more.
 
it just seemed like we had heard all we were going to hear from The Blood Brothers. I was into them after March On was released and was a superfan for Burn Piano Island, Burn. By the time Young Machetes was released, I barely batted an eyelash. Maybe it wasn't the Blood Brothers that had run its couse but my own musical taste.
 
Hmm....I was going to ask if you had just had enough of the scene and as a consequence you also tired of the music. I still really enjoy the Blood Brothers and the whole late 90`s to early `00 hardcore/emo/screamo/noise/ heartfelt yappy off kilter vocals kinda music.
I listen to a lot of other kinds of music besides that but every now and then I come back to it.
I just saw Thursday(one of my personal favorites) on tour doing the ten year anniversary of Full Collapse and while I loved every second of their performance,seeing all the little scene boys with their pretty hair cuts and all the girls with just the right tattoos on their tits..just seems so played out. I saw a few of those types 10 years ago and thought how stylish it looked. But now every one and their fat little sister has that look. Meh.
