Not sure if anyone here is familiar with the works of Joseph Chilton Pearce so I'd throw this out there to see if it strikes a chord with anyone. His work, IMO, is covering the mechanics of what McKenna alluded to with his diatribes against culture.. it talks about how we are neurally embedded in culture itself, how culture shapes us from birth and then how we in turn give rise to culture that ultimately blocks/retards the natural growth of the human being. It talks about the three fold brain and how essentially the highest most evolved part (neo-cortex/pre-frontal lobes) is serving the lowest oldest part (reptillian).. the opposite of what should be happening, and also about the brain in the heart. The last one is mentioned in New Age writing alot, but there is a scientific basis for this actually! Anyway, if you're interested there are 3 1hr dialogues with Joseph on "Living Dialogues" podcast.. highly recommended, and there's also a few clips on YouTube.

*bump* for no replies :'(

EDIT: ps the video i linked to above is mine. all feedback appreciated :)

I just watched your video--it's beautiful!<3 I have already lived well over half of my life and I cannot recall a time when I was not mystified as to why we insist on calling greed and fear and selfishness our human nature; as if that is our default or natural starting point, rather than just one of our many capabilities. That is why I truly believe that every change we make internally towards becoming more compassionate is revolutionary/evolutionary.I have never read Pearce but I will, so thank you!

May I submit that the lowest portions of the brain, are among other things, regulating your heart rate, breathing, motor function and in general, everything else that you need not to die?

So from a biological stance, would it not make sense that the pre-frontal lobe is 'serving' the brain stem? and that it can not over power the brain stem. (as to prevent you from dying of asphyxia from listening to a bunch of hot air from hippies)

Would have it any other way? Or do you want the pre-frontal cortex to take over balancing cardiac output vs vasoconstriction to control blood pressure, so that you have to actively think about it, ALL THE GODDAMNED TIME, to avoid going into shock.

tl;dr brain is set-up the way it for a good reason.

@rangrz: Sure.. I will not disagree with what you said. The reptilian system is the oldest brain system we have out of the 3 and has the strongest pull out of all of them.. it is largely connected with "fear" and draws us back into a pattern of response that is not healthy individually or collectively. Ideally the lowest brain system should be integrated into the next evolved portion, and then in turn those into the next, creating a seemless functioning unit that is not at war with itself but functioning in harmony. On the outside this would probably manifest as the ideal human being.. something we have yet to see.

I just watched your video and I loved everything about it. You had many beautiful images that remind me of my personal spontaneous evolution, plus there were many power images with which mainstream culture could connect. The electronic music transitions are perfect.

it is absolutely infectious.

this morning i went and dropped in on a yoga class for the first time, and the theme for the day was the heart...leaving and on my way home with my dad, whom was jogging while i was in the group, i was trying to explain as cohesive as possible the origin and point of this 'energy'. we began discussing 'runner-high' and how he gets them.

we live across the country from where i was raised, and he began describing how while jogging he frequently does 'transcend' back to my home-town, he couldnt exactly identify how and why that happens to him, he feels a click in his chest, the pressure in his head that sinks to his stomach, and then feels he is at this same part of a particular route where he would jog before across. he can see it and it is overwhelming enough for him he often feels as if he should stop running, but plays with it he said, focusing on a point and running towards it...

it isnt because of any strange occurrence, it is out of love, and a passion for life ~ in essence ~ as he was dropping me off at my house, he said for the first time in many years, how this was a great morning.! i honestly dont remember the last time i have heard anything like that from him with such sincerity.

it has been streaming tears of joy for me all day, until writing this, transcending the emotion, into an act of undiscriminating love and joy to be shared, that is kundalini to me, a sharing empathetic loving process, to be shared with anyone any where, at any time. .

^this song+Bansuri+Dancing+ ;) Transcendence helped me to identify the representation of 'kundalini-energy' in Celtic Tradition. thought you could appreciate this -=SS=- its worthy as noting in our tradition as a humanity, i feel, its always been there, yet so "amazing" that we turn a blind eye...

"Brutus! there lies beyond the Gallic bounds
An island which the western sea surrounds,
By giants once possessed, now few remain
To bar thy entrance, or obstruct thy reign.
To reach that happy shore thy sails employ
There fate decrees to raise a second Troy
And found an empire in thy royal line,
Which time shall ne'er destroy, nor bounds confine"

Wow great video. I mean its really hard for me to get an emotional response from a video compilation but yours did so fantastic props.

Thank you also for introducing me to Joseph Chilton Pearce. I'm reading his work right now because of you. Hopefully I can comment later on the substance of his writing.
