So I was wondering if anyone had any info as to possible ways to potentiate the effects of THC. I've read through a lot of stuff already that points towards 5-HTP, DXM, or benzos but I was looking for something a little more technical as far as explanation is concerned and a little less synergistic as far as mechanism of action. I'm not a big smoker so bear with me, as I understand it since weed is normally smoked it doesn't undergo extensive first-pass metabolism however it will eventually be metabolized via the CYP2C9 pathway so finding a way to inhibit this isoenzyme would be the most ideal way to potentiate (not synergize) the high the only problem is I haven't been able to readily find anything that does this so I figured where better to go than BL. Thanks in advance guys =)

Well, my guess is this for 5-HTP and cannabis. 5-HTP is metabolized into serotonin, therefore, increasing your serotonin levels, making a change in your brains activity levels in different parts of your brain (as minor as these changes may be). Then, when you throw in the THC and other cannabinoids, they also make changes to your brains activity levels, but since there was already a change in place, the brains activity levels are like combining the two changes to make a whole new change that feels different. This is just a theory, I have really no evidence to back it up, just some brainstorming.

And your theory about inhibiting the CYP2C9 pathway sounds makes me think of MDMA + MAOI which, as im sure you know, is quite dangerous. I don't know if the same logic applies but I just thought I would throw that out there.

The main metabolite of THC (11-hydroxy-thc) are more potent than THC itself, inhibiting enzymes is going to diminish the high if anything. Having said that, inhibition would likely extend the first phase of being stoned (the initial, giggly, euphoric part before couchlock & munchies set in) so it might be worth looking in to,

I doubt 5-HTP would help. It hasn't even been conclusively shown to get you higher of MDMA if you predose with it, and MDMA acts directly on serotonin receptors. As far as I know serotonin has nothing whatsoever to do with the brain's cannabinoid receptors.

be careful taking 5-htp liberally every day. read up on taking that supplement, there are dangers.

cooking with cannabis makes it MUCH stronger than smoking. so strong, that you often have to dedicate a day to doing nothing important.
