So I have been heavy weed smoker for a long while now.
I wanted to quit so I stopped smoking and have been taking temazepam every day for about a 8 days now to get me sleep.

However last night I wanted to stop but after 3 hours of not being able to get to sleep I gave up and had to take temazepam again.

I feel like Im in a bit of trouble as I cant sleep now without the temazepam.

Should I just tough it out and tonight not take any even if it means I get no sleep? (I assume I would definitely goto sleep the next night being really tired)

Temazepam can of course cause rebound insomnia, but after taking it for so short a time it should only last a night or two.

+1 Just stay awake for one night if you have to. Substituting THC with Benzos is not a good alternative as you probably know.
But the insomnia from the THC-Withdrawl could last a while. I found exercise to be very helpful in that case, especially swimming.
Good luck and stay on track :)

Even if the rebound insomnia makes you unable to sleep for one night, by the end of the second day of being awake you'll be so tired that you'll eventually fall asleep. Good luck.

The longest I've been on regular dose of benzos (nitrazepam 10mg) was in rehab, when my methadone was nearing the end. I've used it for 2 weeks, after which the prescription was stopped. First night was horrible, turning, tossing, not able to relax your mind. I got max 3 hours of sleep, then second night was even worse, same scenario but 1-2h of sleep. Surprisingly I wasn't even feeling tired in day time. Third night was better, slept for 5-6 hours, but falling asleep took a long time. I struggled with falling asleep for about 5-6 days. I didn't have any other symptoms. Perhaps you will be more likely to suffer insomnia if you used benzos for falling asleep, rather than recreational, day use???
