Tapestry of Me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Look at the tapestry on display -
The colors of nature divine.
The lush green fields of children at play -
In the daisies and golden sunshine.
Then yet another scene catches your eye.
It's one of deep blue and gray.
The brooding storm clouds rumble on by -
As sunlight gives birth to the day.
This tapestry is of my life itself.
In rain or bright sunshine -
In sickness and in glorious health -
This life if truly all mine.
But to see me whole and know what's there -
One must turn the tapestry over.
And see what sight awaits them there -
Just knot and flaws, not fields of clover.
You see, knots and flaws are part of us -
Each struggle we go through.
The events that build foundations of trust -
And the flaws in me and you.
So look at me now and understand -
That I am not perfect at all.
I'm waiting for someone to take my hand -
And love me for my knots and flaws.
Gareth, thank you for my inspiration on this one. You are the truest kind of friend.
Hugs,
There is nothing like reading something that can so beautifully intertwine what we fantasize and what is reality...as does everything you write. This piece especially.
Love,
Gareth
This is beautiful, and very true. I feel like I've been waiting forever for someone to see ME: not just for who I appear to be on the outside but also to see beyond that, understand me fully, and love me anyways. Thanks!
