I had tapered myself down on benzos. I was taking quite a bit, for panic disorder but having an addictive personality I got accustomed to taking them very quickly. I saw a shrink today who was a total a-hole and actually yelled at me. Yes I will be posting on multiple "rate ur foc" forums regarding this appt.

My problem is that over the past week, knowing I had this appt coming up I basically finished off just about everything in my possession (lots of xan included). This was a total of 7-8 days total.

I have about 80 or so mgs of Valium but I am worried the my past week of terribly high use has set me back terribly. It is hard to get a drs. appt here and I'm worried I will end up in the hospital. I was trying to do the right thing, thinking he would understand that tapering with a addiction psychiatrist is better than doing in on your own with not so legally obtained meds.

Who here thinks I can go back to where I started with my taper? Or did I totally screw myself over.

BTW he raised his voice, insulted my intelligence (even though I told him I was trying to quit) and told me I was going to die if I didn't go straight to the ER. Yuck! I've had it with doctors.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I was down to 10mg Val per day.

As stated more information is needed but I think the most important thing for you to remember is that no matter how bad the relapse the key is to keep trying. Quitting most anything this addictive takes dedication and work and a strong desire to get off of it.

Best of luck to you and hope all works out well.

The important thing after a binge is not to beat yourself up, just get back on track. It's easy to make yourself feel like shit over it and then you just keep using because you feel bad. Just stay focused on the end result and make an action plan.

But yes, agreed with this above. More info is needed. Benzos can be extremely dangerous if you cold turkey or taper too rapidly.. You could have a seizure.

It would be helpful to know how much diazepam you currently need to stave off withdrawals. Have you tried taking 10mg yet and see how that does you?

We have no information to proceed any further at this point in time.
