I am aware that I post frequently about obscure sedative hypnotics on here, but for whatever reason I cannot seem to find anything on the short acting barbiturate Talbutal. What I have found is that it was manufactured by Winthrop and distributed under the trade name Lotusate, and came in the form of 120mg (~2 grains) purple tablets. Furthermore, this barbiturate is structurally related to butalbital, which is an intermediate-acting barbiturate which is used for the treatment of headaches and comes in preparations with acetaminophen/aspirin, caffeine, and sometimes 30mg of codeine phosphate, and is distributed under the trade names Fioricet or Fiorinal. Anyway, if anyone has any useful papers or studies done with Talbutal that'd be greatly appreciated.
