I am aware that I post frequently about obscure sedative hypnotics on here, but for whatever reason I cannot seem to find anything on the short acting barbiturate Talbutal. What I have found is that it was manufactured by Winthrop and distributed under the trade name Lotusate, and came in the form of 120mg (~2 grains) purple tablets. Furthermore, this barbiturate is structurally related to butalbital, which is an intermediate-acting barbiturate which is used for the treatment of headaches and comes in preparations with acetaminophen/aspirin, caffeine, and sometimes 30mg of codeine phosphate, and is distributed under the trade names Fioricet or Fiorinal. Anyway, if anyone has any useful papers or studies done with Talbutal that'd be greatly appreciated.

I can't speak to that drug specifically, but barbs are a favorite of mine... and I've only had them thrice. Every time was with fioricet. There was 5 left from a prescription so old that the bottle (well, lable) was literally in the worst condition I've ever seen for one of the orange ones. They're a strong drug that I can feel at as low as 50 mg. 150 MG had me swimming, though it was on top of a large collection of other depressants/sedatives, or 'shut the fuck up' drugs, as I like to call them. They're hard to describe because it's hard to think while on them. I'd equate them more to alcohol than benzos, but even then, alcohol is even dirtier than barbs. Benzos are just something you can take that make it harder to think. I feel like barbs fully shut off a part of your brain. Sorry if this didn't help much.

Don't apologize, I love hearing about people's experiences with barbiturates and other sedative hypnotics. Are you sure it was Fioricet though? Because iirc there isn't an orange butalbital tablet, you could be thinking of Butisol (butabarbital sodium) which comes in 50mg orange tablets. Either way you're lucky lol.

Yes. It was blue fioricet generic, said west ward 756 or something to that affect. I see the confusion. Orange was in reference to the bottle. It had no codeine in it sadly.
I pointed out the orange bottle because barbs have been used since there was no standard bottle for prescription medicine.

Oh my bad lmao.

Do you have any experience with barbs? I'd like to try primidone or phenobarbital, because they're mad long lasting, but lots of people hate them for that reason, even ones that enjoy other barbs. Also the caffeine in fioricet distinctly add to the buzz, make it more 'bouncy' or something. It's a horrible description, just can't think of anything else to say about it. If you take enough, I've heard of walking blackouts due to caffeine content, which doesn't sound so fun. At least the results.
