taking 3mg clonazepam and running out, can i switch to valium to taper?

i realize i’ve asked a similar question about the exact same drugs but i’ve been taking more clonazepam and for a longer period.

roughly 3mg daily for roughly two months
sometimes less but give or take 3mg

i have enough valium to last a while so just wondering if it’s safe to jump
straight to valium considering the dose and length of time.

0.5 clonaz = 5mg valium so id be at 25mg a day roughly but looking to slow down and jump eventually..

any help greatly appreciated and sorry for the same topic or question basically

Yes its safe to do that. To jump to diazepam its a very known method to taper down benzos habit. I think its aston method. Why wont you be safe. With benzos you can jump from x to z with no problem because they have very similar pharmacology and cross tolerance as far as I know.

I know this is a little old thread but, how are you doing?
I tried switching to valiums from clonazepam and it was a terrible idea.
I went from 2mg clonazepam to nothing in about 14 months. I would have my regular dosages laid out in a container that divides the dosages for each day of the week. What i did was start dividing up my doses to 2 or three doses during the day. It made it a lot easier to whittle down my total daily and weekly doses that way. It worked for me and I had been taking clonazepam for over 3 years at that point. I have been using clonazepam on and off for over 12 years.

hi i to have been taking clonazepam for a long period of time .i have a very high tolerance and can take 8 mg a day no problem including half a dozen beers ,bottle of wine and still wake up albeit with a hangover.i used to be prescribed diazapam but found it to recreational so was switched to clonazepam which really just gets me thru the day.im on 2 mg which i usually take first thing in morning and then one at night but i plan to quarter the tablets and given whats left of my script i will have 80 doses or so.i believe this will work as when i have abused kpins i find that there is a ceiling affect and taking more makes no difference .if i half a 2mg pill and let it melt under my tongue if i wish i can be asleep in less than 15 mins albeit not for very long but its a lovely dreamy sleep .there is no real euphoria with kpins they just sort of give you your confidence back [if you ever had any]i also find that valium helps much better with alcohol intake ie i drink less .without a drink i find kpins give me a hangover where valium is not so bad .sorry for rambling but replying to your post i can switch to any benzo without any noticeable affects .

I guess it's different from person to person. I found that valium would not quiet my anxiety like Klonopin/clonazepam. I think it hits the gaba receptors differentlhy - boy, i could tell. I switched back pronto. It was just an experiment with my doctor and i at the time. Thanks for your input and good luck with weening off the medication at your own pace.
